- Ok so I get this bike and the motor is cogging constantly, I replace the fets and new problem it doesn’t work lol. So I remove the controller from the hub #nightmare and 4 hours work, I install new controller that COST ONLY £12, and the bike is faster. Next problem the battery decides to blow up, I had to re spot weld some internal connections to make it work again. What a fun project this has turned out to be.

Hi! I own a smart eBike like yours but it's stock, it developed a problem that lets the pedals spin freely on 1ts and 2nd gears. Whenever you shift out of 3rd gear it would just spin. Do you happen to have a service manual or know what to look for? Mine is a 2013 year model in white, yours looks awesome!
You need to take the gears out and you should see the problem. You basically have 3x freewheels and I reckon 2 have spring issue.
@@smartazz I did take them out but found nothing wrong to the best of my understanding. All gears had a spring around the inner hubs. I'm kind of lost. Thanks for the answer 👍
@@daniellanderos6243 make a video and share the link here , try and move the gears and try to engage the 1st and 2nd gear, I’ll see if I can see why it’s not working.
@@smartazz this is what it does, I've teared it apart today again, found sticky grease and replaced it, bike clocks 37miles its "new" (from 2013) so i belive it shouldn't be doing that.

Hi thanks for watching. You will need the original type of display for it to work again. If not available you will need to replace the inverter that’s in the wheel and do what I have done. Good luck

Can you provide the controller reference? Because it looks less bulky than others I've seen and apparently less expensive as well. I have the same bike and it seems the internal controller inside the motor has blown as well. I am taking the oportunity to unlock the bike from all this Bionx nightmare. Thanks.

It was a long time ago but I think this was the Controler I used in that build.
@@smartazz Seeing the vid again, trying to understand if you used the pedals or the throttle to have the motor running. I've opened my motor already and like you, no blown fets, and nothing seem to be actually burned. Still the motor coggs, does no assist or regen and the battery enters a never ending beep loop (Error code 66). My question is, did you found any strain gauge inside the motor, after removing the controller board? If Not, where is it located? Thnks.

@@smartazz So, apparently in my Smart Ebike with the green/white color scheme there's no strain gauge inside the motor. I've checked and there are no additional wires connecting to the controller PCB, aside from the motor phases and hall sensors. In the meanwhile, I've opened the small plate underneath the pedals and saw the connection wires and plugs to the torque sensor. The model is a BBRTS FAG torque sensor. The very same as with Grace Easy bikes.

I have a bike like yours and the BMS has failed.No one can fix my battery and I would love some suggestions.I don't want to scrap this bike.
You need the battery rebuilding and a new BMS fitted I’m afraid, same thing I did in this video

@@smartazz That's what I figured.Should I remove the hub motor control board in the wheel and take it from there.
Thanks for you help.If I bought a new battery with a built in BMS and mounted it on the back rack and put my controller in the battery case after removing the cells and the board in the hub could I make this work? Thanks for your help.
@@gerry5029 yes absolutely. It’s not an easy task as the spokes need to be removed to accessible the hub
@@smartazz I will take the plunge and go for it.The bms seems to be an issue with these bikes and there no point in finding another battery and going through the whole routine again.I appreciate your help.
Thank for your video. I have that Smart Ebike (model 2013, Daimier) The label says 35 km/h, however ir only reaches 20 km/h, the battery is still good. Do You know how I can remove the speed limit? Thank You.
The only way I know how to do it is to have an external controller. It’s not the easiest thing to do tbh.
