Metallica has faster songs, check out whiplash, motorbreath, fight fire with fire, etc. And this isn't as brutal as Slayer at all, check out payback, disciple, angel of death, relentless, etc
I'm german and for me there are two reasons to like sodom and being a fan: the music and tom angelripper himself. I saw many Interviews and documentations about sodom. Tom is one of the most pleasant, relaxed, nice and funny guys in the metal scene. He grew up in the Ruhr area of germany which is known for it's steel industry and cole mines. People there grew up with very hard work and also a very hard and industrial surrounding. Tom himself worked in a cole mine for ten years until he decided to live from the music of sodom. He is absolutely down to earth and modest. In interviews you got the feeling you're hanging around with an old friend and you can listen to him for hours. People really like him for his plesant character. He is an original from the "Ruhrpott"
My favorite band has been Kreator for close to 30 years. However, I wake up to this song EVERY MORNING. Much better than coffee but not as good as a bump of coke. This is Sodom at their best in my opinion. I once had a copy of Agent Orange on vinyl signed by Tom. Is was destroyed in a flood from a broken water pipe. Now, I'm a plumber. Kinda funny, right?
It was signed by just Tom, but it was on vinyl. I had won it from our local college radio show, "Midnite Metal" on WUCF (radio station for the University of Central Florida). Besides the loss of that, I also had my entire autographed collection of Death memorabilia which was quite extensive. Growing up and living in the same city as Chuck Schuldiner had its advantages. Since I knew Chuck, I probably (at the time) had the largest memorabilia collection of Death in existence. It hurts to talk about and I almost never talk about it, especially since Chuck's death (RIP, Chuck). My most prized piece of Death memorabilia was an autographed t-shirt from Death's Leprosy North American tour, which I had in WHITE. Very few of those shirts were even made. Back then, MOST thrash/death metal bands came to Orlando and a good many death metal bands even moved to the central Florida area. I met almost every band there was back then, mostly because of knowing Chuck. After losing my collection to that flood, I never started another collection again. YES, IT SUCKED HORRIBLY... Now, my collection contains only Kreator albums and such and I am hoping to get a "Flag of Hate". If I can get a Flag of Hate, I'll start collecting again and have Mille and the band sign everything they can for me. I WILL MEET THEM AGAIN!!! Stay heavy, even when you are old like me.
MilleIsGod That is Amazing that you knew Chuck he was one of the best death metal singers of all time I wish I had some Death Merch. That flood must of been the worst thing ever to happened to you.
Chuck was a great guy. He was about 6 years older than me when we met in a used record store. I wouldn't say we were friends, but he did know me by name. His influence on me made it where I am STILL a metal head at age 43. That flood happened when I was about 20. I saw Death practice, saw them in concert 15 times, and even smoked a joint with Chuck a few times (read this quickly so I can erase it. I don't wanna speak ill of the dead). Before they took "larger tours" I would follow them around when they would play bars and smaller venues if I could. Chuck made death metal what it is today, and a lot of people even consider Orlando the "birthplace of death metal". This and knowing Chuck made it where I met almost every band there was back then. I have TONS of stories but a lot of them I don't want posted where the world can see them. I was VERY LUCKY to have known him. I even got to sit and watch Death make their music video for "Lack of Comprehension" among other really cool things. At that time, I knew a lot of radio personalities and Chuck and it put me in a position to meet a lot of bands. I was just lucky enough to be a kid and Chuck was a great person to follow for a thrash/death metal lover like myself. Keep in touch and I'll try to tell you some cool stories to let you know Chuck a little better than MOST EVERYONE THERE IS.
+millers god it sounds like Chuck was an amazing person who I did sadly not get to meet i would love to hear some over your story's about him. Also it must to been awesome smoking with Chuck
Sodom are just fxxking awesome. Persecution Mania and Agent Orange were early thrash classics way before their time in the late 80's.The 90's saw more solid releases but Sodom seemed to fly under the radar during this time. By the time the 2000's came and more popular thrash bands were calling it a day Sodom were actually releasing some of their best albums in M-16 and the self titled Sodom album. And since the thrash revival started War and Pieces, Epitome of Torture, Decision Day (maybe not so much) and Genesis have cemented their legacy as one of the best all time thrash bands. They will never be the most fashionable or most popular but real thrash fans know Sodom are right up there as one of the all time greats.
I hate when some people say that you have to look in a particular way to prove that you like metal music, The spirit of Metal music is not to care about what others think about you.
Although I don't know many songs from Sodom (I know just a few ones), I must say that this song is really, really, really AAAAWWWWEEEESSSSOOOOMMMMEEEE AS FFFFUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!!!!!! Stay metal my friends!
Cult is the only song on that album that's really memorable to me. That album was such a disappointment to me. I was excited about Dave being back in the band, and then the album wasn't that good. It had everything needed to be a good Slayer album, it had all of Slayer's traits, just the songs weren't that memorable. I still like this better.
As someone who kinda listened to sodom here and there over the years but was never a huge fan, this totally sounds like what slayer turned into after them dropping satanism.
Im going into Sodom for more. Great Thrash metal band, along with Kreator! I have to say, that Germany should be proud for their Thrash! Hails from Poland!
I just recently got into these guys but I have to say one of the best metal bands ive heard so far wish I woulda heard about the sooner. LONG LIVE METAL!!! \m/

lol what? Death is death metal
Angelripper has one of the best voices in metal.
The Best vocal
Teutonic thrash is the best thing ever happened to music.
It is indeed.
You have litterly a american thrash band on your profile
Sodom the most underrated metal band of history. solid as slayer deep as kreator just lack of mainstream charm. dying to see them on stage.
This is ridiculously good. If this doesn't get you pumped then you're dead.
Faster than Metallica, Heavier than Venom and Brutal than Slayer.
Venom is More heavier. Compare this with resurrection album of venom.
Anyway Sodom is better...

The movie of the same name kicks as much ass as this song too. It's probably my favorite film.
you are talking about this: www.imdb.com/title/tt0317248/ movie about rio de janerio?
