Hi, i really like this shawl. However, the video is being fast forwarded too fast. It’s very hard to follow. I even got a copy of the crochet magazine you said it was in. I have a hard time following patterns without seeing them done. Can you repost this bit not fast forward as much please. Thank you so much and thanks for all the wonderful patterns
I absolutely LOVE this shawl. I’ve watched the video more than a dozen times, tried numerous times (with a bigger hook and thicker yarn) to “get the pattern” and I just can’t seem to capture what I am doing incorrectly. I’ve gone to other sites to watch how the stitch is made-and I understand that-what I cannot seem to comprehend is the circular joining. Would you consider filming this tutorial again for those of us who are newer to crochet? Many thanks for your consideration of this request. P.S. I thought the pattern was in a magazine and thus unavailable. Is it in a book instead?
Wow she hasn't answered you in 2 months? I don't think you're getting an answer. Too bad. This woman does good work but I don't think she likes to teach.
Pattern is called the Ter Berge Lace Shawl found in the book Vintage Modern Crochet. It is absolutely stunning! I am working on it now but haven't gotten to the joining part yet. It doesn't look too difficult. This tutorial, I believe, is just a supplement to the actual pattern. Book is on Amazon for about $13 as of this post. Well worth it!!
Hi Kristin do you think you could give a heads up with a video to aid in finishing this beautiful shawl. I bought the book but can't seem to figure it out...please help....
Thanks for your feedback but it is meant as an accompaniment to a paid pattern in a book. It is not intended as a completely free tutorial. I don’t own the copyright for that. It is helpful for those who want an accompaniment to the book.
I love this shawl, i downloaded the book on kindle, but because i am a visual person am having a hard time crocheting the edges. Do you think you will do a video on connecting and edging on this project? I love to finish my shawl. Thank you.
Kristin I love this shawl, it seems that the one that you are making has more stitches in the middle at the beginning then the one that was already made. I am waiting on the now that ordered from Amason so I can start making this one.
Can you do a video on how the shawl is put together? I have purchased the book with the written pattern, but it is very confusing. Thank you in advance ☺️
I bought the book and made the shawl but I had to fudge the finishing part. The instructions are not clear. Please help! I would love to make a new one.ami
I was able to follow your tutorial video and got the book to learn how to put the medallions together. However I find the joining instructions int the book is quite confusing to me. Somewhere in the instructions said ch-6 sps but no where in the work is there ch-6 sps, I believe. Only ch-5 sps. Am I missing something or there is typo. I read all comments and found that several viewers had the same difficulty understanding the joining instructions and requested a video to better explain how to do the joining. I wonder if a video explaining the joining has been posted yet. I did some searches but did not seem to see it yet. Could you please help? Thank you.
The pattern rights have been owned by the book publisher for many years. Once the book is no longer in print I will have the rights to release it again. In the meantime, I encourage you to reach out to the book publisher for any errata they may have for their publication.
I don't get how to join the medallions. I have all 5 medallions completed (2-small, 2 mediums, and 1 large) but I need tutorial on how to do the edgings and the fan motif to make them into a whole shawl. Do you have a video showing how it is done. I can't wrap my head around the directions you gave in that book, being a visual type of person. Please show me how.
In regards to the "Bruges Lace in Spiral" Simply Beautiful!!! You didn't mention the size crochet needle and would love for you to "slow-down" in the beginning of the project. Also I didn't see any mention on the edging. I did buy your Bamboo Lace, but won't use it until I know this pattern inside and out. And suggestions?? Or do I need to buy the book?? Which isn't a problem. Ruthie from MA
The copyrighted pattern is only available in the book. This video is intended to supplement the pattern in the book. I hope that helps :) Warm regards, Kristin
Most of my videos are related to free patterns on my website. The video description box will let you know all the information regarding the project in each video, including where the pattern can be found (most of the time free on my website) and how and where to buy the yarn. xoxo, Kristin
Do you have a specific question about a specific row I can answer for you? In general, you have been joining the loops on the inward side of the circle to the previous round of strips on same circle. To join the circles, you begin using the loops on the outward side of the strip to join to the loops on the outward side of the adjacent circle. It is the same exact technique you have been doing all along, just from the opposite side of the strip now.
made the circles, I have the book and I still cannot figure out how to crochet the top edging. Could you please make a video? All that work and I am stuck. Please
After reading the remarks here, would you consider making another shawl like this, recording it a bit slower for some of us, and also complete the shawl as some have said they had to 'fudge' it. Thank you, K
This pattern is copyright protected in a book published by Interweave Press. I do not have the rights to share the entire pattern on UA-cam. this video is just a supplement to the actual pattern in the book. Hope that helps!
Okay I have a book but I totally get lost in written instructions, I understand you cannot do the tutorial but can you draw a scheme based off those instructions? There is a scheme of circles but when it comes to the connections it is text and pic with placement and I keep messing up
Unfortunately, this particular pattern is copyright owned by the publisher. I have added more bruges lace to my list of videos to teach, but I can't legally give this pattern to you for free. There should be a schematic in the book. Have you contacted the publisher for more information?
I will now, it has the pattern for circular parts but not for the connecting ones just picture for their placement plus text instructions which I get lost in...
I was really disappointed by your video. You start off with great instructions and but then you sped through the part at 6:20 and left me lost. I think you should have at least shown how you did that part as well. I ended up frogging what I did because I couldn't figure it out. I guess I'll make some other shawl.
Thank you for your feedback. If you notice in the video description, this video is meant as an overview. The pattern is copyright protected and available in a book - it is not a free pattern. I had permission from the author and publisher to give an overview to supplement the pattern in the book. Perhaps you prefer videos that support free patterns that can be demonstrated completely. You can find them on my channel as well as all over UA-cam. Warm regards, Kristin
Thank you for your feedback. In the video description, I explain that this pattern is from a book. The video is intended to supplement the pattern and chart instructions in that book. The video teaches you how to crochet bruges lace in a spiral, as the title states. The pattern is copyright protected by the book it is published in. Thanks for your feedback.
The pattern is in the book Modern Vintage Crochet. Check out the link here for more info: www.kristinomdahl.com/whats-new/2016/4/30/how-to-crochet-bruges-lace-in-a-spiral
It is a great supplemental video for those who pen the pattern or the book. It is not intended as a stand alone video for a free pattern. Thanks for sharing your opinion. I have 1000s of other patterns without this restriction if you are interested.
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, I do not have the rights to this pattern (it is copyright protected in the book) so the pattern cannot be shared here. The purpose of the video is to show the concept of the components and how they are joined. Most of my other videos are of patterns you can download for free on my website. Hi. Thanks for the video. Sorry to be a little pedantic but it makes me cringe every time you say "Bruge's lace". It's pronounced without the S at the end. So it's pronounced Bruge lace. This is because it originates from Bruges in the north of Belgium, where French is spoken. Bruge's lace is a very ugly way to describe a beautiful lace! :
You're welcome. I think you will much prefer saying it the correct way. It sounds so much lovelier and very apt for such a lovely crochet lace. And BTW, I love your spiral version and will, literally, give it a whirl! this coming weekend. By the way, if you come to Europe you must visit Bruges. It's a very beautiful medieval town on the water - not quite like Venice but with lots of canals and beautiful buildings. :-)
This is one of the prettiest shawls EVER, wow! Am working on it right now from the book and can't wait until it's done!
Have fun!
Wow.....I am so impressed...what beautiful music you make with your hands.
Thank you very much!
Truly beautiful. It was much easier to understand since you explained the increases before hand. Thank you.
