- The roar of the hoverbike was a symphony of freedom as Zane raced across the endless red plains. The sky was a canvas of stars, the twin suns dipping low on the horizon, their light painting everything in gold and crimson. Out here, no corporate drones to monitor his every move, no overlords demanding quotas or allegiance-just open land and open skies.
Zane adjusted his helmet’s visor, filtering out the sun's glare as the bike’s engine hummed with steady power. He wasn’t running from anything, nor was he chasing something specific. He was simply moving, alive in the speed and the solitude. The suit he wore wasn’t just protection; it was a symbol-a mark of someone untethered by gravity or rules.
He caught a glimpse of something in the distance-a glint of metal. Curiosity tugged at him, but he didn’t slow down. Not everything out here had to mean something. Some things were just part of the landscape, forgotten relics of an old war, or maybe a lost explorer’s gear. Zane had learned to leave most mysteries as they were.
The desert wind whipped at his sleeves, carrying with it the faint, electric scent of an impending storm. Good. The storm would wash the tracks away, as if he’d never been here. That was part of the beauty-being untraceable, unrecorded.
As the hoverbike surged forward, Zane laughed to himself. Not from joy, not from anything specific. Just because he could. Because out here, the universe didn’t care what he did, and neither did he.
Godspeed, space traveler.
