    Nothing like the smell and sound of a Nitro motor in the morning.

    I had to look up Hebrews 12. 1 after this video. There’s always something to be learned from you sir. Invest in the CMB Pipe. You’d have all bases covered with testing. Thank you 🙏, HGD.

    Just 2cents from an old 1970s boater the port timing of the cmb and the nova Rossi may be a little different making the pipe characteristics slightly different.

    My yellow beacon is exactly like what you are talking about. I really like the Muck at 10.25-10.5 from back of the head. See you soon!

    Awesome video! Looking forward to seeing your solution! One question: did you figure out why the turn fin was kicking up water all the time??

    Always great videos Scott!! Been a big help and motivation to getting back into the hobby and build better boats brought a gas mono last week 1st of many to come in yrs ❤ the last pipe looks very similar to whats on gassers not sure how much differently nitro boats run other than being 2 stroke we set ours usually set ours at 13.5 inches🤔 how can you not run the muck pipe 😉. I have some videos of our club day on my channel if you wanna check them out couple of nice hydros too ❤

    I exchanged emails with Gabe Clegg at Novarossi USA asking about the .67 marine engine. He replied that they are headed to Italy in June to discuss production plans with the new owners. Would be great to see the .67 back in production again.

      I wonder what a minium order quantity would be? Do you think there would be much support within the NAMBA comunity? I could cerrtainly do some checking. I'm wondering if te community would support one or two humdred units. Let me know if you have any insights.

      As much as I would like to have them available, from a business standpoint I doubt it would be a great investment. Nitro has been rapidly declining in favor of electric and gas, so I would expect the market to be fairly small and declining.

      @@M5PerfHydros I cant disagree with that logic Scott. Same thing with airplanes.

    The pipe also pushes back in any of the fresh air and fuel that escaped from the open exaust port. Thus the reason it's called a "tuned" pipe. It helps scavenge and also "echos" back to the cylinder to help the escape.
    I have made pipes for many engines. And it's always a compromise. From peak power, to when the power comes on, and that's all on what the operating rpm is. And the intended use of the engine is. Your use is max rpm of the safe limit of the engine and should always be matched for that rpm.
    On my road bikes, the stinger lenghts really matter too. Not just the expansion chamber.
    Not sure how you boys know what rpm the motor is truley at with the prop changes and such..... having telemetry would be a big help. Being able to know the engine is always at say 25000 rpm and tune the pipe and prop accordingly would be a great way to control all your variables.
    That way your always in the "usable" power and rpm range of the engine.
    Like with rc airplanes, we check the amp draw and prop up or down to get the most out of the thrust while staying in the safe max amp draw of the esc.
    Not all pipes are equal. Not even from the same company. I have seen it on my road bikes and on my dyno. Even the high end pipes are not equal.
    Test, test, try and try. You have years of experience so you know......
    Thanks for a great video.

    Olav Aaen has a book you might like to get on two stroke expansion chambers. He's the king of 2-stroke engine tuning.

    Maybe the novarossi’s double (stepped) convergent part of the pipe is designed to boost two separate parts of the powerband, e.g. mid and high, or low and high. One of those pipes that that hits (gets on pipe) twice when accelerating.

    • @M5PerfHydros
      @M5PerfHydros  7 місяців тому

      Possibly. But if that really worked, why don't we see it on any other pipes? Very mysterious!

    • @OliveiraX
      @OliveiraX 7 місяців тому

      @@M5PerfHydros because the other pipes are not Novarossi. 😄. But seriously now. I’ve consulted a book I have on 2-stroke tuning, and it checks out. Instead of boosting one broad range of rpm, it promotes two (narrower) ranges of rpm. Now you must test it against the other pipes. I’m sure you’ll notice a noticeable difference, and I bet it will be in the getting out of corners better (low-end). Happy testing!

    Hey man I know this has nothing to do with the video but how do you go about painting one of these. It’s just crazy how perfect and shiny you guys get it and I would worry I wouldn’t be able to do that. I really love hydroplanes and want to try building one though.

I will use some of your lighting tricks t keep it as light as possible. Thanks again for the help in contacting David.

    The 2 stroke pipe was explained to me as if it were a shaped charge explosive. The fuse is the over all length of pipe from the head to the end of the last taper. The expansion chamber in the middle is the Medium we want to blow through. Be that a high or low density "Material", in this case that is just gases. Adjusting the chambers size and length or its over all area of containment, determines not only the density of that material we want to punch through but, it also determines how the rear taper must be shaped. How that rear taper is shaped, determines the size and velocity of the explosively charged stream going back to the head.. Thusly, the now correctly shaped explosive force returns back at a higher velocity, effectively punching a hole through the oncoming exhaust gasses. Resonance is key, small adjustments in the expansion chamber and or cone and or taper lengths, can make large changes with-in a limited range of rpm. So, as with any explosive force, too much can be catastrophic and too little leaves the job undone. XP
