Last weekend we had our best ever day A La Vive Fishing! It was literally chaos!
Once again we headed out with Captain Mathew of Sips & Scales Charters...Although the day started off pretty tough with limited bait and slow bites...After a mini storm passed through, the bite turned on!
The fish weren't huge by any means, but the fight on 10lb test on handlines was definitely a challenge! We ended up with over 40 fish on board and let go quite a few more.
I know the video is a long one...but it is action packed! So sit back, relax, watch and enjoy some awesome Trinidad & Tobago fishing action!

Invest in a landing net, way easier to boat smaller fish and less damage to the meat w the gaff. Flip those little macks in the boat, nice haul.

@@KoSMTT got one 7 pound carite, three 2 pound Kings, a 20 pound yellow cavali and a few bachine. Can't complain. The boats with live bait did much better though.

It is very important and should be implemented! Especially for certain vulnerable species of fish.
i never did a la vive fishing before but why use a 10 lbs test when you could use a stronger test so the line dont burst ???
You have to use the lightest line possible so the bait looks as natural as possible...King Fish & Carite can be very picky...
What lb strain ur using there?
Tried the 10 lb suffix but it bursting very easy
I does use 8lb to 12lb
10lb test bro...Just have to let the fish run...Once you get the hang of it...You will stop getting burst offs!

Is the an advantage of hand line fishing compared to rod and reel or is there a time to use each method?
Both methods have their advantages and there is a time to use each...For us in Trindad, hand line is our traditional method of fishing, it's what most grow up doing...Certain types of fishing, like in this video, the handline is best suited as it is mostly done by commercial fishermen and it is much more economical. Other types of fishing like bottom fishing, it is also preferable as again, it is much cheaper...Rod and reel is by far much easier to use and you would need that for using artificials but it is a lot more expensive...At the end of the day it is really up to the particular fishermans preference....
