- @TwoNotestv Genome vs Opus - A Battle Royale
Just a quick video showing how the Two Notes Opus compares to the Genome plugin when taking pedals - particularly dirt pedals. To me the Opus seems to have more clarity, but not by a lot. I was trying to do a one-to-one comparison with all of the same settings using the Aviator preamp on both the Opus and the Genome, as well as the same cab/mic combos.
I truthfully think a little more tweaking with Genome could actually get me a lot closer to the perceived clarity of the Opus. So the real question is do I keep the Opus? I guess we'll see in the weeks to come!

I mean, obviously the Opus sounds brighter, but just curious, were you able to dial in a similar brightness with the Genome (by trying to use the amp EQ to compensate) or were you just trying to keep settings relatively the same? Great tones btw, super sludgy & cool
So the more I played with it the more I was able to get them to sound nearly identical. For this video I was doing kind of a 1-to-1 comparison so I set everything the same. But after spending some time with it I got to a point where some models I liked a lot better through Genome. It’s very impressive.
And thanks! That Black Mass Missionary fuzz can get pretty gross sometimes. In the best way. The 1312 is the only drive I have that will never be replaced. It’s hands down my favorite Rat circuit.
@@BMinusDemos thanks for the reply! Currently doing a geartube deep dive to see if I can replace my ac15 and effects with some sort of combination of amp-in-a-box pedals and a rack patchbay for easy recording, or in-the-box with Genome/some other software.
Checked out a bunch of your other demos and they’ve been super helpful, so thanks!
@chrissiemilnarskii That’s awesome! I’m so glad it’s been helpful. I switched to a mostly digital rig a few years back because I live in a small apartment. It’s really opened up a lot of options for me to try stuff I never could have otherwise. No spoilers but tomorrow’s video is definitely one you’re going to want to check out 👍
The Opus (IMO) probably would sound better than the Genome in a mix with drums, bass, etc.
@johnnyringo8174 I think that’s probably true. And it definitely offers more flexibility for people looking for something to use in a live rig.
