You can hear/feel the foundation of Blue Monday. I stumbled across this in like 1982 as a junior in high school on a small college radio station. Been a fan ever since.
@@krasteffor 1981, new order had a really unique mix of post-punk and electronic/house that not many, if any, bands were doing at that time. movement and it’s singles are really unique in that aspect because it still has that joy division punk sound, but also hints at what new order was going to become. i wasn’t born in the 80s so i could be talking out of my ass, but i haven’t heard a band that was doing what they were doing in the early 80s.
@@fantabulouso1647 Before New Order there was Giorgio Moroder and before Movement there was Italo Disco. New Order were fans/influenced by Italo and later by Belgian new beat, in both instances being behind in trends. I (everyone) can give specific examples of how influential Italo was, e.g from Stock Aitken Waterman to Eurodance. The same applies to say Cabaret Voltaire, having been instrumental in the development of Chicago/Detroit house/techno, as well as a direct influence to EBM/new beat. But when it comes to New Order, one can hardly point to specific examples, resorting instead to general statements like "very influential band".
I remember seeing them in 1989 with the Sugarcubes and P.I.L...They didn't play this but they did play a lot of great old stuff like Ceremony, Temptation and Fine Time...
When they were on, pfhk! Wish they were this good every time I saw them. Appreciate them all week and they would still be under appreciated, but appreciate them for 40 years and you might get how good this was and still is.
Looks strange seeing anyone but Ian Curtis using that guitar. Glad it wasn’t left to gather dust after his passing as it could may have otherwise done. Great tune too! “the most important song in the modern world…” - Tony Wilson, Factory Records

Bernard using Ian's guitar! :)
Damn ...I wonder if that's part of the equipment that was stolen on that trip...😢
That bass tone is out of this universe...loud, chorus, echo, high strings, lead melodic
exactly...it's ominous
Hooky lives on the D and G string
Hey that's Ian Curtis's guitar! Well I think the only one on earth who deserves to play it is Bernard Sumner.
johnny marr was given it for a bit as a gift from barney.
@@ustheserfs Really? How do you know that? When was it?

This track is the definition of a indie/dance crossover tune.
Hey Peter I think this electronic beat thing is going to be big.
Hey 🅱️eter
Peter: Yeah you’re probably right
Some music has a shelf life. New Order does not. Timeless. As Always.
Your thoughts on post Low-Life efforts...
: Technique is my favorite New Order record, primarily for Fibe Time and Vanishing Point being so gaddam good
The great New Order. Mesmerizing.
RIP Ian Curtis. Walk in Silence.
Wow, this sounds really good, especially coming from 1981. Sumner vocals and guitar effects!
Doesn't seem too drunk either, 😂
40 years. wtf. Glad this has been with Me all this time
Legends! They didn't even know they were about to change the history of music. And for the second time.
Depois dessa paulada na moleira todo mundo quis virar NO/JD. Cure é o chupa-cabras que mais copiou essa banda
They knew. They've always been coy as well as cheeky.😅
Amazing
WoW! Sooooo glad I stumbled across this absolute gem! 1981! Awesome!
My favorite song from the decade!
Me Too
Bernard looks so haunted playing Ian's guitar. What a poignant moment.
I was wondering if that was the same guitar Ian was playing in the “Love Will Tear Us Apart” video.

yeh. almost spooky. like he"s chanellin Ian

This is the precursor to Temptation and Blue Monday, love it.
Wasn't it the B-Side of "Temptation"?
"It seems like I've been here before." Maybe, maybe not, but you'll definitely be back here again for "Blue Monday."

Discovered this song at Heaton Park in 2021, the whole crowd was going crazy, the guitar rhythm is just majestic. sorry for my behavior that night x
I wus there. Stoned out of my skull. Long beer quues. Fuck that
It's alright. But can I have my car back now please. It's got a lot of my CDs in it. Cheers
This is so badass
Without their genius electro and house wouldn't be what they are today, this track was far far far ahead of its time
Yes. And the producer walked out on them cos they wanted the drumming turned up in the mix.
How exactly was this track ahead of its time?

If Metallica were the birth of thrash metal New Order were the 1st and birth of Dance/Electro/Techno PERIOD
