I really like the combination of personal and historical that you have put into this video. A bit of a breath of fresh air from so many commercial UA-cam watch reviews.

*Outstanding!* The OG SARB017 is on my shortlist for sure; it is just perfectly unique. The new version just doesn't have "it" (but it does have that heinous "X" Prospex logo and the ridiculous cyclops lens).
I recently obtained another "always wanted" list - my Sinn 104i St Sa A (grey, H-link). The Sinn 556i RS i it a SARB017 is next. Between those 3 watches and a G-shock 5610U, I'd have all the watches I'd ever "need". But, you know... 💸💸💸 It never ends. Great vid, glad to be onboard with your burgeoning channel. 👍 I really like how you lay groundwork with a bit of history before getting into the watch. Great format 🥂

My first ever mechanical watch and the start of my collection, the SARB017. It's still my first choice to wear when I'm facing a new experience.

Okay, so I'm just gonna say it. Best Alpinist/017 history and review I've seen. And you know we watch (no pun) all the reviews. I'm acquainted with the Laurel history, and I agree that the 017 was a perfect evolution of those original concepts. 👍🏽⌚⌚⌚

“Wearable art”, yes! As someone else had already commented, you’re a natural on camera. I enjoy your storytelling style, informative yet relaxing and chill, unlike some “hype man” barking press copy. Subscribed, and looking forward to more in hopefully the near future.

If I were a dedicated hiker/camper, I'm sure I would be taking a compass on back packing trips, and if the trip were long-ish, a topo map as well. But I do understand the symbolic meanings and reflections the watch types have for us when we are in the office, or anywhere uninspiring. With a glance, we can momentarily be somewhere else, having our Walter Mitty adventure.

Hi Sir, very smooth and little historical acknowledgement on this icon from Seiko Alpinist, has I’am more sporty and have other models almost bought the “glacier” version but bought another from other brand, them the newer Alpinist “rock face” European version shows up got a early batch , my only complaint is the minutes are bit hard to see the rail minutes are thin and very little black lines on that beautiful dial all that says I’ve been thinking sell it or keep it but it’s such a cool and beautiful design I think I’ll keep it in my humble collection have a great week ! Well done Sir, waiting for more Vlog’s watches reviews.
    All the best from Europe

I only discovered this video today. I adore ! These Seiko Alpinist are legendary, magnificent. Personally, I own a Sarb017 and a Sbdc135. I would like to catch a "Red", but the current prices make me think...😅 Nice job sir.👍👋🇨🇵

Had mine for about 7 years. Sarb 017, Amazon for $379.00 USD with really bad fake alligator strap. Looks GREAT on an Oyster. Just subbed. Really good vid! Thanks

Although I am familiar with the history, I enjoyed seeing it in video form. Included strap aside, the SARB017 is a great watch. I personally went with the SPB089 blue Alpinist. It's been rock solid through 3.5 years of ownership (since new). I prefer bracelets on it, but have had alternate leather straps an NATOs on it before. Even if you use a real compass, the rock solid specs and size of the non-compass Alpinists make it a great exploring companion as well. If anybody asks me if they should get an Alpinist, the answer is always a resounding yes.

6:00 That SARB015 reminds me of my currently lusted-after Sinn556i RS 🤤 Great dial + handset for clarity.
EDIT- ...but is absolutely *not* what I envision when thinking "Alpinist". The classic green + cathedral hands for the "W".

As far as feedback goes I would say your video format is great; including not only the history of the watch but also the reason for its introduction.
The animated intro is a little long in my opinion, this is of course subjective so don't feel the need to change it if you don't want. However, if you do wish to make some changes I would say make it a little shorter by keeping it just to your brand name - 'Just me and the watch'. PS. The music was great!
Something as simple as adding either a logo or profile picture to the channel would go a long way in adding to a more polished and professional look. Even if its just a picture of yourself wearing one of your watches it would still be a great improvement over the current "J".
Another thing I noticed is that the images you uploaded must not have formatted properly when downloading because the image quality is lacking, yet the rest of the video is just fine.
The last thing I would mention is your mic. Though the quality is good, and there is no trouble understanding what you are saying, there is always room for improvement. This doesn't mean you have to go and buy some top of the range microphone. However, in future, if you're happy to spend some money, getting a higher quality 'studio' mic goes a long way. There are plenty of great budget options if your trying to keep the spending to a minimum.
Your voice is beautiful, your set/backdrop is awesome and your script was written well ( if you had one), if not you're a natural! If you decide to pursue UA-cam further I genuinely believe you will see results. They may to come straight away, and watching the numbers can sometimes be demotivating but if you keep putting effort it will eventually pay off.

Great video . Could you please tell me what the difference is between the SARBO17 and the Seiko SPB121 .
They seem to be the same watch - to the eye.
    Thank you.

    • @justmeandthewatch
      @justmeandthewatch  Рік тому

That's a good question. I don't see any differences in the case other than the removal of the alpinist logo from the caseback. The SPB121 does have the upgraded 6r35 movement which gives it 70 hours of power reserve over the 50 hours of the 6r15 in the SARB017. The SPB also has a cyclops over the date and the word alpinist has been replaced with the prospex logo on the dial.
