- A brief discussion of my Citizen Promasters NY0040 family. A great little watch with exceptional design elements and a legitimate military history. If these watches can handle what the navy throws at it, it can definitely handle me!

Recently i bought the new Version NY0086 (Coke) with hacking an handwinding for my collection. It soon became my daily reliable, accurate and great looking beater. I love it.
I have it in the blue dial and love it. Extremely wearable dive watch, and it has the updated movement that hacks. Great video, thanks, and will be watching for more.
Great video. I own this watch and its accuracy is phenomenal. It's built like a tank, is easy to read and wears great. The dial is black; totally black. I've never seen a darker dial. I love it!
I have the full lume version, with the updated movement (it hacks now). The only thing I dislike is the metal bracelet, since it's links are folded metal. Anyway, I put it on a tropic rubber strap, and the watch is awesome now. Citizen is very underestimated. Nice video btw!
FYI, Long Island watch makes a nice aftermarket bracelet for the promaster
I dig your historical explanations of these time pieces. I have a pro master, its in my daily rotation. Its a GREAT watch. They also make a destro pro master for lefties, which you made comment of . Citizen is good stuff.
This watch has been on my radar for some time now. I like the coke bezel, ny-0086 I believe. Very nice diver’s watch. Great review with history I did not know about. Thank you!
The newly produced models do have the updated Miyota 8204 movement which hackable. Mine was made in September 2021, the straps now without the decompression table and I have nothing but praise for the watch as a whole. 3 to 5 seconds fast per day when you wear it constantly. It doesn’t like longer breaks.

Man, thoroughly enjoyed listening to your video about this amazing watch and the history of it, you've got a really chilled out voice 👍I've got the standard black dial version with an updated 8204 hackable movement. I find the miyota movement a tad noisy due to the freewheeling but it's a small gripe because everything else is awesome.
I love these! I think I prefer them better than the Seiko SKX.
I'm also collecting these. I have the green, Pepsi, Coke and full lume versions! They're awesome and very affordable true divers!
Great review! There’s also a very rare Yellow dial version. Been hunting for one for years with no luck yet. I’ve only come across a few collectors owning one each.

I have one in my collection, the blue one you haven't ha ha ha. It was my first diver. I only regret it hasn't a sapphire crystal because it has a very small scratch and man, it hurts to look at it although for most people it is invisible and I have been told so but my eyes go directy to it, masochist of me...
Greetings from Spain, it has "tasted" diving the Mediterranean, the Cantabrian and the Atlantic ocean waters. Maybe some day the Pacific?

Good video review . I have the quartz version which I bought about 5yrs ago for like $150 and it is a great example of a set and wear watch . Very rugged and accurate nearly no negatives on it as an everyday day wear. I have been eyeing the automatic but would seem to duplicate the one I already have so it’s a pass for now .
The Quartz “version” is a different watch altogether.
My diver watchs is etarios watchs very good
I ordered the ny0040 full lume from Italy. Citizen European and even more the citizen Italian websites have a much wider selection of promaster dive watches, more dial options. The US Citizen website has such a small selection, but a bigger range of ugly fashion, mall style watches.

I have the BN0151 (solar version). I have yet to wear it though because I bought a Seiko Turtle at the same time. The Seiko has been on my wrist everyday for about a month now.
At some point this year I will get around to the Citizen. 😂
Not exactly the “solar version “ but a different watch altogether.
They have a white face dial one and that the only one I'd ever buy...if not just buy another seiko. They actually much better but I'd buy the white dial one
Not sure what to think of the WWII era Italian Navy, since the reputation of their Army was not commendable. At least not when compared to the German Army.
They had a strong navy - could have challenged the British in WW2 but they didn't have aircraft carriers and they were short of fuel, and the Brits cracked the Italian code book so they knew exactly what the Italian navy was doing.
