Where is the birdseed when you need it??? lol I want to know when The Met and other prominent opera companies are going to sign her. PLEASE record a full CD with Coloratura arias in it, inc rare ones, like this one. I bet it would win a Grammy. I am a huge fan. Please come to Milwaukee, WI and do a recital here.
Veramente bravissima! Colore, accento, estensione, agilità, musicalità ideali e molto ancora in questa esecuzione che restituisce questo momento del personaggio con grandissima pertinenza. Penso sia la migliore esecuzione di quest'aria fra quelle che conosco.

Bravissima , ascoltata in Viaggio a Reims e in Fra Diavolo non capisco come non sia ancora più conosciuto e soprattutto chiamata più spesso nei teatri rispetto a molte altre che passano per eccellenze lei lo è veramente😍😍😍
Maria Aleida ha la voce piu' scura della Serra e non ostante anche lei non sia il soprano ideale per simili parti e' superiore alla Serra di gran lunga, per un colore di voce piu' tondo. Le difficolta' della scrittura sono superate a piene mani. Il timbro, pur bello ma infantile, non era adatto a delineare una potente regina. Comunque Aleida si vede poco in giro e la Serra si e' ritirata da tempo. Il panorama lirico di oggi offre una visione desolante sotto tutti i punti di vista.
Extreme high notes are NOT the true test of Coloraturas. It is the BEAUTY of TONE and legato THROUGHOUT the voice such as heard in NEZHDANOVA, TETRAZZINI, LILY PONS, CONCHITA SUPERVIA, LINA PAGLIUGHI, and in the American Film Star, SUSANNA FOSTER (The Phantom of the Opera). However this suits the level of singing now.
that last note was incredible. i watched that whole "aureliano" and she was the best in the cast. the tenor was not up to the demands of the role, and they had a countertenor (ugh!) instead of a contralto... bravissima, maria aleida!!!!!!
The singing is great but the setting is...overly inspired the Romans are in kilts and Scottish costume while Zenobia is in her traditional Middle Eastern attire. Too much vision can be a bad thing in producing a show.

She is fine. Short careered singers ruin their voices pushing and bringing the chest voice up. Pons never needed chest voice.... neither did sutherland. I find it very funny that critics hold criteria different for a soprano than for a tenor.... what about a tenors low voice or middle.
I definitely feel as though her technique is not quite up to par for this demanding aria...she hits every note, but too much of the technique shows...you can see the tremendous effort it involves...but my goodness what a difficult piece to sing

Ridiculous comment. You can not hold a high E in alt for 14 seconds strangled. This totally negates your comment. If you prefer a fuller sound on top fine...but then it weighs have to be screamed and not done correctly . She has sung for over 10 years already.
