There are several errors on this subtitles cause Mano Brown use a lot of slangs that is hard to translate, a great example is:
"The first one goes boom, the secon one goes pop (3:44)": Here, mano brown are describing himself as a thug (the vision of racist brazilian society over black people), but instead of "bang bang" his shots looks like "boom bap" i.e the rap beat, so his guns are his words, his crimes are his lyrics
A summary of this music should be:
1st part Brown are describing himself to the racist brazilian society. He is a thug to them, but as I explained above
2nd part Mano Brown and Ice Blue are reflecting about the drug adicts problem in Brazil, bringing a new perspective on theme. They are not judging the addicts, and then he tells a story about a "type A black dude" (i.e, an exemplary guy from his hood) that knew some rich guys and became a drug addict, so 9 years later Brown saw him and he was asking for alms, stinking and high
3rd part Brown and Edi Rock review the intro data about black people on 90s Brazil (27 years going agains the >statistics

what keeps the Racionais celebrated until today is that they were not dazzled by fame. They maintained compliance. for example, they always said they would never do art for any big corporate media company, not even participate in TV shows, and 30 years later, they haven't.
about violence statistics, unfortunately not much has changed, but in relation to universities, since 2002, in Lula's first resident donor term, it was created in the quota system and 50% of vacancies in public universities are destined for blacks, indigenous peoples and students poor whites.

    Nice to meet, guy.
My name is Pedro Gabriel, I'm Brazilian, born in São Paulo Capital, São Miguel Paulista.
I was raised on the coast, and when I was 13, I came back to São Paulo, in Jardim Ângela, near Capão Redondo, where Racionais MC's emerged. I've had the pleasure of smoking a joint with "Mano Brown". I grew up in this culture, and I'm a big fan of conscious rap. I could help you find the best and most iconic rap songs from Brazil. Many Brazilians here in the comments are not familiar with the reality of the favelas in São Paulo, but I am.
Can I contact you on Instagram and share some stories, explain the history of rap in Brazil?

Great reaction! I suggest you react to "Tô ouvindo alguém me chamar" this is perhaps the best Racionais song with the best storytelling, it's a song that needs to be analyzed several times to understand everything they wanted to pass on to us

translation could be much better, but you did good as always. The main points lost is some slangs are not localized to english, like 100% veneno - it says 100% Poison which is a literal translation, but the song meant he is 100% on edge or 100% ready to anything. Or the "brown Opal" is their car not the gem, their concept of a "gangsta car"!

Nowadays things in Brazil are better, but we still have a lot to improve. Some stats: 18% of black people aged 18 to 24 are attending university. From 2010 to 2019, the number of black students in higher education rose by almost 400%, but representation in leadership positions in the labor market is still low. About "every 4 hours a black person dies violently", some data unfortunately still corroborate this reality. It is notorious, however, that the majority of people in conditions that favor violence are black. Poverty is a late legacy of slavery times associated with an exempt state.
