Hey john and Lisa, I just wanna tell you that I love your channel! Since I’m half blind I enjoy the fact that I can just listen to your vids as I go to bed. I am trying to convince my mom to let me be a member 😊
Hay John & Lisa im a subscriber & watch your vids all the time. I'm just wondering if you guys have seen on UA-cam (KEEPING FISH SIMPLE) HE'S young but very knowledgeable check it out.
Hey I know this is random, but I have an arowana that I no longer have the means to take care of. :/ He's 4 1/2 inches. Really cute and I love him so much but he needs to go to a better home. And I know you would take good care of him, so I was wondering if I could give him to you? It would mean a lot to me knowing he's going to a good home. Hope you see this. And if everyone could help me get KG to see this I would greatly appreciate it!! 🙂
I actually got clear silicone sealant from home depot for about $3. It also can double as aquarium safe glue for fixing decor or gluing plants like java fern to rocks & driftwood.
John and Lisa, this was an awesome video. Fish keeping can get expensive so this was a perfect video for me. I appreciate the time and effort you put into making these videos. Thankyou for that.🐠😽
Great video from experienced fish keepers to a newby in the early stages of multi tank syndrome 😝 this is video is a great resource of those things you will be glad you have when you need them. Looking forward to the launch of your website ❤️
Great video. I have one of Cory's USB pumps and I love it. No noise, no vibrating across the stand or table, and you can plug it into the wall or usb it. 👍🍄😎✌
John and Lisa, Thank you for putting these videos together. The way you present all of your information is on point. Informative, funny (and not cheesy), and very entertaining. You have some great tanks!I ran across your UA-cam videos a little over a week ago and you both have relit the fire...I am going to get an aquarium in the very near future. You had me as a new subscriber after the second video I watched. Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos! Keep up the awesome work!
Agree with most of these, except for the digital thermometers. I think these things are horrible. When I got back into the hobby a few years ago I bought one of these for all my tanks. I had them for approximately 8-10 months. I had a heater malfunction and basically cook the fish that were in there. The temp went from 78 to 98 in the 12 hours I was at work. Killed all but 3 of the 15 fish I had in the tank. My problem was that I couldn't figure out what was going on until I put my hand in the tank when I saw some of the dead fish. The digital thermometer was still reading 78 degrees. I then noticed that while all my heaters were set to around 78 degrees the digital thermometers were reading different temps. I put all the thermometers in the same tank with the probe in the same area of the tank. They were all ready different temps. Only two of them were even close to the temp setting and they were still 2 degrees over what it was set at and what my trusty glass therm was reading. The other 4 were off by 10 degrees or more. I threw them all out and bought a quality digital thermometer gun and I use my glass therms as back ups.
Hi from Down Under. A small tip in regards to the digital thermometer. Nearly all these have an element of error +- 1-2 degrees celsius/3-5 fahrenheit, so i simply use a cooking thermometer (very accurate) to measure the tank, compare this to the digital and i now know the error value. I only need use the cooking thermometer once. and now I simply allow for this when i check digital one
Great video as always- being new to the hobby and I am obsessed with bettas I am up to 7 tanks and I am happy to say that I have almost everything that you have mentioned- I always order my things from Aquarium Co op - such a great company!
TURKEY BASTER! In fact I just gifted one to my friend who is a recent Betta owner! We both agree it’s a must for spot cleaning or even rearranging small rocks or substrate.
A good tip is to use 2 (especially if you get the 2 pack) on opposite ends of the tank. Sometimes the thermometers can be a little off so if one says 76 and the other says 79 then you can safely assume your temp is actually around 77.5
Great list!! Another cheap one is the algae cleaning sponge from the Co-op (or Mr. Clean). If not bought at the Co-op just be sure its the sponge only, no added cleaning chemicals!!
Those USB air pumps are great for emergencies. I've also used them as the main pump on some nano tanks but ended up going back to regular pumps for those.
Usually you need to buy ammonia test strips separately. I would recommend the liquid test kit. Beware though, it doesn’t include the hardness testing, like the test strips. “Sold separately” but usually you don’t need kh and gh
Hey , I have a interesting question!!! I wanted to know if there is any Good Camera we can fit inside the Aquacrium so that I can have closer view of my fishes , would be very helpfull ???
Awesome video . Please tell me if I run this USB nano air pump via a 10,000 mah power bank in emergency time when no electric power cut non stop them how many hours it will run non stop by that power bank? Please help me🙏
You guys make great videos, keep up the great work🙃. And you guys should do a top ten most odd fish friends, like the most least expected or odd fish that can be kept together.
If one wants to save even more $$ , the cut to size filter material can easily be rinsed out and reused several times. Learned that from the Fedder Corp. when they introduced a similar product in the mid-70's. Been doing that ever since.
Although it isn't under $10 Cobalt Aquatics makes a usb air pump that switches over from plug in power to battery automatically, I have the dual air outlet one and test it monthly but unplugging power for 4-6 hours
okay so i’m a beginner and i was wondering why is it important to have air pumps on hand in case of emergency? wouldn’t you just want to keep an extra filter?
KGT, I saw similar cut to fit filter material in the grocery store for a/c s , it looked identical to the stuff you were cutting, could this be a $ saver as well .🐟🐠
Hey I know this is random, but I have an arowana that I no longer have the means to take care of. :/ He's 4 1/2 inches. Really cute and I love him so much but he needs to go to a better home. So i just bought a betta and we separated it from the other fish (not betta), is it safe to put the male betta with the other fish (not betta species).?
I have a 28 litre tank and I would love to get a betta. I also really want neon tetras but I dont think I would have enough space in my tank? Does anyone have any other suggestions or is there no space? Thanks
USB air pump.. works ok. Only use it when power is out. Ziss air stone... Awful. The blue pad gets gummed up with slime. Not nearly as many bubbles as a traditional stone.
It's the same w/ non digital thermometers also. Ex: I have one w/ internal and external prob. If u place them side by side, in a place w/ stable temp, the one will have a higher room temperature reading 0.9 °C during winter and 0.6 °C during summer from the other. The same goes for hygrometers, libras, etc. (That's why it's advised to get weighted at the same libra!) Since I have some thermometers, I can assure U that ~1/3 "agrees" w/ the one prob, the other 1/3 w/ the other prob, and the rest give their own readings!
Ok all good pointers, knew about all except coop usb air pump. I believe this is insufficient, I live in a condo so no generator for me. Furthermore I also gave up my car two years ago, so how do I go about recharging the usb?? What happened to THE number one hurricane survival tool?? Yes the unmentioned Battery 🔋 operated air pump. The salt water fisherman utility power tool, used to keep shrimp alive is kept my aquariums going for days during hurricane strikes. USB fine, old school battery air pump better.
Everything u mentioned and claimed to be cheap is still too expensive in this freaking country I'm living in. Everyday prices are higher than yesterday. Any time I walk into a fish store and see prices are way too higher than before I get depressed. Many people are getting out of the hobby here because of this matter. Anyway, great video guys keep up the good work. 👍👍
Plz help anyone! ⚠️ my betta fish keeps eating my cory catfishes pellet food and his belly gets reallly big. I tried all methods even dropping the pellets at night with the lights off but he still finds it and eats it. Anything else I can do? Thankyou for the help
Put my make betta in a 30 gal planted moderately with 12 neons 4 cory cats n these lil orange eyed tetra's n 2 female betta's n after a week they still all look happy

what kind of Aquarium Air bubble stone that is in the Aquarium from 2:37 to 3:07?
Awesome video! Maybe in the future you could do more of these with different price points. Maybe like $20, $30, etc.
Big agree.
I love this idea!!

the usb pump is amazing we picked one up for kids fish tank and havent had any issues with it. quiet can power it with a power pack exellent bit kit
This was such a good video idea, especially right now! Super thoughtful + helpful. Thank you!
Great video from experienced fish keepers to a newby in the early stages of multi tank syndrome 😝 this is video is a great resource of those things you will be glad you have when you need them. Looking forward to the launch of your website ❤️
Great video thanks for the information so I can buy needed stuff for cheap

I honestly used some of that sponge material to help polish my pool water i just cut it to fit into the skimmer basket and it has made a difference.
Agree with most of these, except for the digital thermometers. I think these things are horrible. When I got back into the hobby a few years ago I bought one of these for all my tanks. I use a thermometer that is used for meat. Works perfect but always better to have both. Regular and digital.

Yes! A list that’s gonna save me some $$
I just got my USB air pump and it’s so quiet! I’m prepared for hurricane season.
I LOVED mine, but it only lasted 4 months
Yes
The one thing I can count on is a few battery operated air pumps. Can’t depend on USB
Typical huh. when theres a hurricane, the last thing you care about is the noise of your air pump :)
Do you or anyone else know if the USB air pump pushes out enough air for a 20 Gallon Tank?
Great videos. Very informative. Newbie looking for all the information I can get. Thank you
TURKEY BASTER! In fact I just gifted one to my friend who is a recent Betta owner! We both agree it’s a must for spot cleaning or even rearranging small rocks or substrate.
Works great for cleaning up leftover food from feeding shrimp and bottom feeders too.
Yes I had a same problem also I had sobo air pump and sponge filter and sponge filter stopped working
This was really helpful! Thanks guys! :D
3:20 I started doing this and it is absolutely genius!
Just starting to set up my second tank, I'm so super excited to see the final product!!
John and Lisa, please share this background song i'm hooked on it.
It's from a paid music service called Epidemic Sound. The song is called Breaking Hearts and the singer is Mindme
Hello from south africa
Okay, I need some of those digital thermometers. So tired of the glass floaty ones, well, floating off to where I can't read them.
A good tip is to use 2 (especially if you get the 2 pack) on opposite ends of the tank. Sometimes the thermometers can be a little off so if one says 76 and the other says 79 then you can safely assume your temp is actually around 77.5
I have 3 of the USB air pumps for moving purposes, hurricanes and to help treat water. They are fantastic!
Great list!! Another cheap one is the algae cleaning sponge from the Co-op (or Mr. Clean). If not bought at the Co-op just be sure its the sponge only, no added cleaning chemicals!!
I feed brine shrimp a couple times a week and pellets. Along with cucumber and algae pellets for my snails and catfish
The API Master Test kit is a bit pricey, but it lasts a long time. Well worth it for what you get
I used the USB air pumps to move fish from AZ to FL earlier this year. *****
Those USB air pumps are great for emergencies.
I've also used them as the main pump on some nano tanks but ended up going back to regular pumps for those.
Hi. What were the test strips? All the ones I find don’t include Ammonia. Thank you!
Usually you need to buy ammonia test strips separately. I would recommend the liquid test kit. Beware though, it doesn’t include the hardness testing, like the test strips. “Sold separately” but usually you don’t need kh and gh
That USB port to pump is a brilliant idea .. !
Hey , I have a interesting question!!! I wanted to know if there is any Good Camera we can fit inside the Aquacrium so that I can have closer view of my fishes , would be very helpfull ???
Another awesome video! Thanks!!

TFH magazine has been around a long time. First issue was Sept/Oct 1952 (I have it in mint condition).
You guys make great videos, keep up the great work🙃.
And you guys should do a top ten most odd fish friends, like the most least expected or odd fish that can be kept together.
Some maintenance items: toothbrush, turkey baster, hose brush :)
Great content thank you!!
If one wants to save even more $$ , the cut to size filter material can easily be rinsed out and reused several times. Learned that from the Fedder Corp. when they introduced a similar product in the mid-70's. Been doing that ever since.
Very cool and informative video and not to long, I love most of them!
Thanks for sharing 👍 Any suggestions on heaters?
That's for the ideas. Got some shopping to do.
And I had spare powerhed so I made a simple top filter and used filter media and the power had saved me at last
Although it isn't under $10 Cobalt Aquatics makes a usb air pump that switches over from plug in power to battery automatically, I have the dual air outlet one and test it monthly but unplugging power for 4-6 hours
This is awesome video
Thanks guys I've discovered a lot of stuff through you
Did you manage to get the new penguin hang on back filter thing(sry cant remember very well and im new to aquarium)
So helpful , thank you, I would love to have a detailed information regarding eheim 2260 canister filter
I already use pond foams that I cut down to the correct size. It’s so much easier
okay so i’m a beginner and i was wondering why is it important to have air pumps on hand in case of emergency? wouldn’t you just want to keep an extra filter?
I don’t know what TFH subscription you were referring to but the cheapest on their website is $15 for a one year digital only subscription.
KGT, I saw similar cut to fit filter material in the grocery store for a/c s , it looked identical to the stuff you were cutting, could this be a $ saver as well .🐟🐠
Does it count if you have plant tanks just to grow out or grow multiple plants? Just want to know.
I just realized you guys are not far from where I live! I live in Stafford. Do you guys have a store?
I have a 5 gallon glo fish tank just cleaned it and my brother has a 20 gal tank and I have old un set up ten gal tank
You have to make sure that the Gorilla caulk is pure silicon without a mold inhibitor added to it.
Do anyone know what kind of Aquarium Air bubble stone that is in the Aquarium from 2:37 to 3:07?
I think it's the never clog air stone from aquarium co-op
I know this has nothing to do with the video but is a 9 inch fish to big for a 20 gallon tank or is it time to upgrade?
A koi is a large gold fish right
yeah they need a huge tank or a pond
Imo that digital thermometer is so much uglier with that wire dangling down.. great video nonetheless. 🤗
The digital thermometers are trash!! I've got 5 and they all read different and 8degrees Fahrenheit less than what the tank actually is
If all 5 are reading 8 degrees less then that's probably the actual temperature and the other thermometer you use is reading 8 degrees high
Hey I know this is random, but I have an arowana that I no longer have the means to take care of. :/ He's 4 1/2 inches. Really cute and I love him so much but he needs to go to a better home. Amazonas is also a great magazine :)
So i just bought a betta and we separated it from the other fish (not betta), is it safe to put the male betta with the other fish (not betta species).?
You guys tell me bout these thing just after I finish ordering fish stuff online😂😥
Happens every time
Same, I just ordered a therm that sticks on the glass, heater, food
Can you use the USB air pumps for sponge filters?
I love saving money
I have a 28 litre tank and I would love to get a betta. I also really want neon tetras but I dont think I would have enough space in my tank? Does anyone have any other suggestions or is there no space? Thanks
Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet, lmao!
USB air pump.. works ok. Only use it when power is out. Ziss air stone... Awful. The blue pad gets gummed up with slime. Not nearly as many bubbles as a traditional stone.
When I clean the glass on the outside of my tank I just use a rag and rubbing alcohol
The digital Thermometers are not actuate though try putting 10 in a aquarium and they will all come out different. at least 3-5 degree difference
It's the same w/ non digital thermometers also. Ex: I have one w/ internal and external prob. If u place them side by side, in a place w/ stable temp, the one will have a higher room temperature reading 0.9 °C during winter and 0.6 °C during summer from the other. What’s a magazine?
Lol I laughed out loud when I read that!!
To clean the glass on my tank I use diluted vinegar! Half vinegar, half water. Boom 🤷🏽♀️ DIRT CHEAP and aquarium safe 😉
Or you can spray windex on your towel first and clean the glass.
where are the links to click on to purchase products you reviewed

Very useful information bro.. Keep it up
With a little bit of flex tape
Is there any websites that sell those USB air pumps and ship to Canada?
Any good treats for my corydoras:)
We could expand on this to a top 25 I'm sure.
Plz help anyone! ⚠️ my betta fish keeps eating my cory catfishes pellet food and his belly gets reallly big. I tried all methods even dropping the pellets at night with the lights off but he still finds it and eats it. Anything else I can do? Thankyou for the help
HEY IM EARLY
it’s not even the products that cost too much, it’s the amount of stuff that cost a bit
Am I the only one who actually thinks sponge filters look good? 😂
Ya I’m pretty sure’
!🤣🤣
I actually like it to, it’s iconic to me. I think we are definitely in the minority.
@@AquariumCoop A rare sighting of cory
Definitely. They are so intrusive!
And if you modify, it is more quiet, and saves more water if you don't have a lid
Hey, you forgot Poly-fil batting!
Oh I have that motor
On the thumbnail
anybody remember Kicking Butts?
I made no friends when I brought my tfh magazines to school :(
Ah yes I can finally spend my allowance on things to save my betta 😌✨
Ha! I do the same thing!

Hi Kirigiri
I NEED TO KNOW, what is that music?
It's from a paid music service called Epidemic Sound. The song is called Breaking Hearts and the singer is Mindme.
OMG thankyou for responding
Thermometer I got was $2
Those digital thermometers always break and lose their proper reading
Me over here every weekend buying $150 every weekend at my local fish store 😬
Analog thermometer
My betta refuses to eat frozen bloodworms he only eats his betta pellets I still dont understand why
