Ps. Dean Butler is now the head of the little house on the prairie family now and what you did for the 50th reunion all over the country will be remembered for years and years after we're all gone. Thank you so much for doing it❤
@@coco-loves-pink-wine5266 We may have to wait a little while for that. Unfortunately, Matthew, Leslie, and the kids lost their home and just about everything they owned in the Altadena fire. :(
@realjamespreston I found that part of this interview really interesting...ML had been idolized so much in the press, even after he left wife #2 for wife #3. And yes, he was adored and revered for many good reasons, but WAS human! The unkind things he said to Dean (and others) express a darker side of him. His legacy remains, but I can't help but feel a bit bad for Dean as it really affected him and how he perceived his own abilities. Of course, Dean has had great success in his career, yet he still seems a bit hurt. I have memories like this in my own life and while they were resolved years ago, I can still recount those painful moments when someone was less than thoughtful like they happened yesterday. Upon meeting Dean, I found him to be truly genuine even under hectic and exhausting circumstances. These interviews really bring out his genuine appeal. I like that Patrick added a little insight with his theory...and he was a teenager observing those things! Just a really great interview!
@@andreap3669 I found Patrick's theory interesting as well. But Linwood Boomer was also a younger and good looking guy on the show as well. I wonder what his experiences with Michael were like? Whatever the case, I enjoyed this conversation between Patrick and Dean because it gave me some insight into what Michael Landon was really like. I mean, as much as I like Pa Ingalls, we all know Michael was nowhere near being Pa Ingalls.
I've had the great pleasure to meet both of these gentlemen separately but it was such a treat to see and hear them interact with each other and Patrick did a great job of digging into Dean's past and Dean was very open and truthful with his in depth answers. Bravo to both of you!
Patrick, please write (or dictate, or whatever...) a memoir!! Reading memoirs from contemporaries that we enjoyed watching in our youth greatly helps us 60-somethings to revisit, take stock of, and somehow resolve in our consciousness the world we all lived through. Before reading Dean's excellent book, I read the wonderful memoir by Ron and Clint Howard. Also previously read other books by LHOTP cast members. Especially for those of us who have been (and still may be) performers, such memoirs bring back memories of our unique experiences doing shows, while also cultivating empathy for the struggles we all had being young in the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Thanks for this fascinating interview! Just subscribed and will watch more!
This is a FASCINATING interview!!! The very specific understanding you and Dean share (about Michael and the bts of Hollywood/Little House) allows for the most interesting questions and conversations I’ve heard between two actors in a long time. I appreciate you asking difficult questions and really going there in the things you guys discuss. Really well done, Patrick! I enjoyed this immensely!
Patrick, what I like is the conversational tone and feel in your interviews. They come across so natural and like two best friends coming together and having a chat. Thats what good about these interviews, they engage the listener and make them relatable to audiences. Also, its good that so many cast members from Little House on the Prairie have also written autobiographies about their lives and their time on the show. These autobiographies make the actors more relatable to their fans and provide a detailed glimpse into their personal lives. Finally, whats great about the Little House on the Prairie cast is how important it is for them to stay connected to their fans through the Reunion cast events this year to remember and celebrate 50 years of Little House on the Prairie. In my opinion, these cast events this year are a great way to keep the legacy of Little House on the Prairie alive and also introduce Little House on the Prairie to the upcoming generations who might not be familiar with the show. - Maureen
This was perfect! Loved hearing the behind the scenes stuff about Little House. And I loved hearing about what Michael Landon was like behind the scenes. Good stuff.
So happy to find your podcast! I also listened to Dean's book and agree with your kind analysis. I listened to Alison read hers as well. I have been enjoying all of the projects of cast members. Books, podcasts, social media...you guys are great!
This is an awesome video/chat that you guys had. i have always been the kind of guy that likes to learn the who what wheres and whys of how something is created..TV being a huge process. You guys sound as genuine as any other guy and not putting on an act or so forth about anything. This IMO is a must watch video for sure...long, yes but the time flies by. Thanks for doing all that you guys are doing for the entertainment industry and of course Little House. It would be cool to know what you think your best and worst or weakest performance was on Little House being you were young and didn't have the experiences under your belt you now have as an adult. Watch this video folks!!! It truly is a MUST SEE!!
First, just two great looking men, but the frankness between them is so refreshing. The respect between them despite the almost 10 year difference is amazing. Good job you!
I just think it's cool that this podcast and other podcasts exist talking about Little House. I'm rewatching with my wife. On season 6 of my binge and watched it as a kid religiously. Amazing nostalgia and a one of a kind show that really teaches lessons. Hard to find anything else in television history even close to it.
The girls in my family all agree with Dean-we loved your Bud portrayal. We have often been heard to say “poor Bud” with a slight smile. Who couldn’t be compelled to keep rooting for him, no matter all that occurred?
I think Michael Landon would be so proud A little house staff, employee and everyone who has their hand in it. I think this is truly an awesome thing to listen to because almanzo I had the biggest crush but he had Laura watch the show since day one. I miss all you guys everyday. You're doing Michael proud❤
Patrick, your face just makes people smile and I think the Title Song which already has a great play on words but maybe add another verse with: 'He's a real Ho.. Ho, Ho Now it's time to start the Patrick LabyorSheaux. or 'Are you ready for your mind to blow' There's a million other lines that can fit there. 😇(😏)
Thank you for saying you thought Melissa’s mom was camping it up. I always thought that was a little over the top. Kissing a coworker in a scripted way in front of 200 people is not a first kiss. 😔
Great! except for the words that needed to be beeped out ;) (I know, just don't tune in right?). As Dean said, he wants us to "meet" the people we've been watching. 😬
Funny, Melissa used to call Dean Chester the Molester 😊😊 and hes right, no doubt that Landon was intimidated by this young buck all the girls used to look at Michael and now they're looking at Dean it wouldn't surprise me, oh ya he was kissing his little girl, ,😊😊
Jonathan Garvey was handsome. How can you not say your TV dad was hot, Andy!🤣💙 Even Mr. Edwards had a scruffy, lumberjack cuteness about him☺. What I want a Little House cast member to get into is why was it such a tragedy for an Ingalls man-child to survive?? Even poor ole Albert didn't even make it & he was adopted🤔🤣Charles Jr didn't make it. Mary's baby didn't make it. Laura's baby Wilder didn't make it. What the hell, guys?? Were the Ingalls cursed?🤔🧐🤷🏽♀
I always feel there's a dark side to Landon that cast members kind of dance around when mentioning him. Throwing a younger performer (who works for you) during a staged fight is an abuse of power. Karen Grassle has been the only one forthcoming enough.
Anyone pay attention that the show repeated storyline? The two characters morphine addiction, the different blind person stories, carrie and Nancy falling in a hole. The alcoholic storyline, When Albert is dying, Laura is talking to manly about a kid named andy..like manly never met him.
What I really like and respect about Albert was how he lived every day of his life. I've noticed that he didn't back away from life, but met life head-on and with great passion. Everything Albert did, he did it with passion and he did it fully, from his heart. He lived life, and didn't back away from it. For instance, when he found out he had leukemia and discovered that he didn't have much time left, he asked his Pa to take him back to Walnut Grove because he became an Ingalls there. So, at the end of his life, he wanted to go back to the people he loved the most and who helped him become who he was, an Ingalls. Also, he used up the last amount of his strength to climb the hill in Look Back to Yesterday, even though he was tired and weak. That shows how important life was for Albert so he could be with the other students at the top of the hill. They were all waiting at the top for him, and he somehow found the inner strength to make it up there to help them all remember with the keepsake box. Albert Ingalls definitely saw life as a challenge to be embraced, love was something he saw as a way to grow up and be responsible, like the way he wanted to look out for Sylvia, in the Sylvia episodes and family was something he wanted to embrace when he was running out of time. - Maureen
...the blood disease (the one where they traveled to the ocean & Albert). Michaels daughter was 3 different characters (ms. Plum, pregnant lady on stage accident, and dish washer in the summer college episode). Cassandra's uncle was 3 characters. Andy's mom was 2 different characters.
Michael jealous of Dean Butler? That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard! Michael Landon was gorgeous and talented. Dean Butler is OK but he's no Michael Landon. The F word is offensive too. 🤮
I really was mesmerized by the show and I loved I mean loved that show, wow! I mean there were other shows too that i really really id with but this one was like for the whole hour, you felt like you were there in the scene. I think it is ok to have your own podcast btw, its all so interesting so we can learn from past entertainment and how it relates to your own life even if its the past because you can relive it from an older adult and another take on it perhaps. Hey, Patrick Congrats, Your the man for sharing what it is like to act proper as kid and in family relationships on how you suppose to be even in real life and Perhaps Michael really knew how to portray it as he had plenty of experience with it from shows like Bonanza, and too it had a great remembrance of the theme song and how important that is too to frame the storys as an added hype and intelect.
