well done indeed sir. there was always a vein of pure quality music running through the rave/club scene of the 90's if you if you knew where to look, and here is a great fat chunk of it.
Wow! I remember The End! Mr C used to play there and everyone used to swank a bit on the long settee at the back drinking champagne. Although, to be honest, let's face it, who needed champagne in them days? he he :)
Superb mix, super dope. Such classy track sellection combined with the mixing, masterclass as they say, both the house and the techno part. Do you want to learn how to mix, listen to this my friend. Stacey! You rock :)
Yes, that is a little bit of a mess there. (Bit of a mistake at 1.26.10 too). Sounds better if you start it at 6.00, and you don't have to listen to PT, who for some irrational reason I find quite irritating :) (Edit) Oh God--- there he is at 14.58 butting in! STFU!
He isn't talking about Pioneer as a CD deck, he's talking about the delay effect (which may or may not have been an onboard or auxilliary send/return on a Pioneer mixer) - which is what actually goes wrong at that bit. I remember that kind of equipment well, it had nothing by way of tempo sync, it was all manual, and it was very difficult to get it to work properly because of internal latency commonly present on the hardware. You notice this effect going wrong on lots of mixes during this era - a famous one being on Dave Clarke's World Service, where he just gets away with it and no more. ...and yeah Stacey Pullen is a geezer :)
Messing it up my arse lol, he’s double beating it. If that was unintentional it’d sound like a chest of drawers going down the stairs. You’ll notice throughout the first half of the mix, the house half, he’s offsetting the syncopations to a sort of double beat.
My mate recorded this back in 96 and we used to play it over and over. All those years passed and I can finally listen again 👌
Taped this from the radio on a C120, with my finger over the pause button, in case of speaking!! Haven't heard it for years. Class. And what an end!!
Ahh when The Essential mix played once for all at home then repeated for all those returning from the clubs- Awesome
One of the very best - listened to it on repeat (TDK120 Auto-Reverse!!) for weeks back in the day!!
deffo a top 10 essential mix - all the best ones were pre 2000 .
Unbelievable what a moment I was remembering this
Pullen did something extraordinary on this day - so groovy, funky and sexy! The best ever. Thanks for the track list!
