This is the original video. Pogo uploaded it but it was taken down by whoever held the rights for Star Trek materials, so Pogo had to shoot another video with himself in it.
The real amazing thing is that of all the dozens of time he's said "I am Jean Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise" and "tea. Earl Grey. Hot." you found the exact ones that pogo sampled. I appreciate that @Onesimplegamer.
This was peak television and the peak time to live. I think I may become like Fry in that episode of Futurama where he just surrounds himself with all the things from his past and shuts himself off completely from the outside world.
Seeing this remix with the original footage just fills me with incredible warmth. I managed to get my wife into Star Trek with me and this is one of the reasons for it. The Next Generation is truely one of the best science fiction shows to ever exist and we'll probably never see the likes of it or DS9 ever again.
@@Lodane He's talking about the photo meme template of Picard holding his hand outstretched. That meme is much more famous than Darkmateria and Pogo put together. It's usually captioned with things like, "WHAT IS THIS SH1T?"
*_Star Trek: The Next Generation is undoubtedly the best TV show ever produced. It encapsulated the yearning of every human to be a part of something greater than themselves, as well as tickling the notion of pure unknown exploration. When I was a child, hearing the opening theme usually meant "it is time for bed", but as an adult I had the time and means to fully 'explore' and watch the entire series, and it has grabbed my heart and my mind like nothing else I have ever experienced. I thank Pogo for this amazing song, I see it as a love-letter to this amazing series, and I celebrate both with a smile, and pure nostalgia._* *_Q'apla!_*
Damn right. It was always a thought experiment to me as a kid. (90s kid here) "To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations... To boldly go where no man has gone before." As a fan of the scientific method my whole life... Inspiration from the series onset.
Wow! Excellent video! I noticed you were missing the "Ba-ba-ba" part at 2:16. I think that part was in season 4's episode "Brothers." Lore sings to himself after he steals the emotion chip Soong made for Data.
@AshenElk Interesting, I've listened to this song more times than I can count and it's definitely Picard singing that command code. Obviously we see Data singing that part, but if you just listen you can tell that it's Picard singing that line. (And I think both of them actually say that line in the episode. I've watched all of TNG as a kid then again years later with my husband. I'm going to re-watch that episode just to see the part when Picard says it.) Live Long & Prosper 🖖🌟🚀
The best part? 0:00 - 3:17 I grew up with TNG as a teen in the 80s, and absolutely get a kick out of how you and POGO came up with this concept. This should be shown at every TNG event!
data's singing always smoothes my brain out with a rolling pin. i've just recently got back into star trek and binging tng again. data is very, very relatable
The fact that we have enjoyed this formally Shakespearean tutored actor from so many movies and series is a gift in itself, you are my captain Patrick Stewart.
This helped my wife understand why I love the Pogo song so much. She really didn't get it until I shown her this and she could see how it was put together. Many thanks and awesome video.
Like some others have said‚ this tickles my brain in a way I can’t quite put into words. I can already feel the ADHD kicking in lol. I also couldn’t make sense of the Pogo one at first but this helped me put it all together. Thank you!
Fantastic... clip choices and pacing of the editing is perfect for the wistful and sentimental vibe of Pogo's song. Would love to see more of this style...
For the curious, the full quote of Picard's speech in "Menage a Troi". "My love is a fever, longing still for that which longer nurseth the disease, in faith I do not love thee with mine eyes for they in thee a thousand errors see; but 'tis my heart, that loves what they despise, who in despite of view, are pleased to dote. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"
This song got me through a bad break up some years ago! T’is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. Come cheer up, m’lads. Aye, Captain!
So clearly I am light-years late to this party, nonetheless I absolutely love the song and this version of the video, shame on the algorithm for not alerting me to this sooner! Hopefully it will be spread far and wide throughout the galaxy! May you live long and prosper🖖💫
I'm a long-time fan of The Next Generation, and I only just found this music video today. With apologies to Pogo, who is really talented, I like this version much better. So thanks for that.
you did this recently??? thank you... SO MUCH!!... POGO and you detail is amazing...such a best song.. Star Trek should be made like this... will be so much more fun!!!
To this day, I'm still so damn disappointed that Pogo turned out to be an absolute tool - thanks for this video (which is amazingly edited, btw). Now I can jam out to this without giving that douchebag clicks😂
He just tweeted that he felt like 'Christian Bale in The Machinist, he's now training to get more packed... and is considering to reupload this one someday.
The real pogo video is excellent, but this one, with the original scenes the audio is from, is exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks
A perfect, fresh Next Generation hommage! 👌

Impossibru!
Going through the series I noticed they're said in the earlier seasons so it probably wasn't as hard as imagined.

No matter how hard I try, I simply cannot skip this video whenever it shows up in my feed.
I put this on loop in the background , and got heaps of work done. This song is that powerful.
SRSLY! 👍
It's good to finally know the actual samples.
This was peak television and the peak time to live. I think I may become like Fry in that episode of Futurama where he just surrounds himself with all the things from his past and shuts himself off completely from the outside world.
Do you remember the ending to that episode?
I do that now, mostly.
Having the original scenes here was very lovely~

Both shows were truly exceptional, weren't they?
Currently, I am binge-watching TNG as I never got to see it for the first time. This is brilliant - thank you.
my first real introduction was Voyager and I quite liked it
Highly suggest Battlestar Galactica (the 2003 one) if you love TNG and DS9 🖖it's right up there with them in my book!
My father was a trekkie, i never got into it until TNG, captain Piccard.

Is legend of the galactic heros considered a tv show because if it is I have to disagree sir.
Star trek is about communism and gay rights. Funny that Pogo of all people missed that

At first I was like, "AWE HELL NO, they're grabbing POGO's content!"... ..then I see what you really did with it. Nice job.
Not gonna' lie... was hoping to see in this where Data's, "Ba-baba ba-baba" came from.
Best version of this I've seen at matching the scenes to the words.

I can hear it - is it fixed? Hisss from the clocktower
bruh
This is the answer I was looking for.
The long password Data used to lock the command functions was from that Brothers episode.
@AshenElk

This is probably my favorite song that he’s done, and his video was amazing! I mean, his lighting effects are spot-on!
