  • How The French Empire Is Secretly Still Alive
The French Empire has not ended. Yes, you heard me correctly. Although the history books teach that it ended in 1870, and they’re not technically wrong, what many fail to realize is that France is bigger than it may seem, and the empire still lives on, just in other ways. This is how.

They have to keep 50% of their reserve in France, not 70%. And in exchange they have access to all the currency in the world and have a fix rate with the euro, which was the norm 30 years ago(mostly with US dollars), but as the Asian financial crisis of the 90's showed, a fixed rate is difficult to maintain. The CFA franc is far from perfect, but it is not a huge burden and it doesn't give France that much control (if any), as show by all the coup recently.
The junta has been in power in Mali for quite some time and even though they are very hostile to France, they did not question the CFA.

Former French colonies have it really bad, but former colonies of Belgium are orders of magnitude worse. However, since Rwanda is now a growing economy, even after, well, the you know what, I think the overall worst luck belongs to the former Italian colonies. Eritrea, Libya, and Somalia, need I say more?

Maybe we should've decolinized after certifying stability and proper cultural borders, and colonial repayment funds for proper (I'm sorry for colonizing you 😢) funds for every group affected.

Considering that three former British colonies are in the top ten countries by gdp, they are doing much better than the former French ones that’s for sure.

@@EpicgamerwinXD6669 counting by GDP means nothing since the more inhabitants you have, the more GDP you generate. this is why china is a rich country but its people are poor
if you use GDP per capita in Africa, the ranking changes, there are 5 ex-British countries (2 of which were originally French colonies), 3 ex-French colonies, 1 ex-Italian colony and 1 ex-Spanish colony.
as for the rare British exceptions: Sudan, Somalia (with Italy), Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, Gambia, Zimbabwe are all countries less rich than Mali or Burkina Faso.
if you look at the 10 poorest countries on the planet in terms of income per capita
      10. mozambique (portugal)
      09. yemen (UK)
      08. Somalia (UK and Italy)

@@EpicgamerwinXD6669 Do you count the USA as a British colony when you barely had 10% of the territory before being kicked out? the French and the Spanish colonized many more territories than you in the USA. India is a rich country, Indians are poor (139th in the ranking of per capita income behind the Ivory Coast)

      Dude, you have no clue!
Britain still has a _"second (financial) Empire"!_
The Falklands actually play no role in it.
But for example overseas territories like the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Bermuda. Crown dependencies like Jersey or the Isle of Man.
All working together with the _"City of London"_ (a state within a state in the heart of London).
      Here's a documentary about it:

London alone is the world's largest financial place _(Source: Reuters 2024)._
Together with all these other places under British control, they really form an Empire on which the world depends! Without it, the financial world would collapse.

France should focus more on nation building and creating a favourable image in Africa and the world by promoting the well Beeing of the common people in different places if it wants to still be regarded as a superpower, and if it wants a colonial empire then it should go settle space
