The thrills and spills of metal detecting there mate, one minute you digging a 20 year old bottle top, the next a 600 year old silver coin. Its those thrills that are making this hobby explode with popularity in recent years. Keep on slogging away at your channel

Unbelievable feeling mate! Always baffles me how two comparatively different items can be just inches away from each other!

Wicked finds! I'm not a metal detectorist, but my instinct would be to search next to the base of the oldest trees surrounding the field where people could have sat? Just a thought :)

Hey man, thanks for your comment! You can bet most detectorists think the same way! Straight the most obvious lunch spot ;)

I've been Detecting for 20 years now. If I ever see a lonesome tree with shade I will definitely always give it a go around to try and find surface finds, unfortunately tho at the same time, Detecting around trees can also be a pain in the rump too if it's more than a couple inches down because of the tree's root system. If it's not a surface find, the VDI would probably have to be a bang on hit for me to actually try and chase the roots :-)

Hate to tell you but you hunted that field wrong. You should have hunted it fast and very shallow, no deeper than 2 inches with full discrimination on, knocking out all pulltabs. As you can see with NO discrimination on you wasted all your time digging 90% junk, you didn't miss any gold. Let the other guy dig that junk stuff up. If you have to dig you are wasting time and energy, try finding targets that are fresh DROP. If there are 2 pieces of gold in a field you have NO chance of finding them when you dig deep, I would discriminate all pennies out also by their numbers. Digging 20
pennies cost you an hour, spend that hour hunting fast and shallow let's you cover the whole area instead of one little corner. With a pinpointer you should be able to find targets without digging. If you have to dig you don't want it UNLESS you are the greedy type, that's ok if the area hasn't been hunted in a while.. If no targets, move to an area that may have fresh drop.

Thank you for your comment. Right now, I am happy with the way I am running things. I feel that I have good success on running these settings and am finding plenty of things to keep me happy. I try to include the rubbish/junk that I find in my videos to show people that it isn’t all sunshine and daisies when detecting. If you discriminate too much stuff, you will end up missing things completely. Thanks again! Jake :)
