It's finally time to start completing the LS and Dodge Dakota front end swap on my chopped top 1949 Ford pickup that's been sitting for 3 years since I worked on it last. We need to convert the front end to a 5 lug bolt pattern, plumb the brakes and fuel lines, hook up the shift linkage and a plethora of other things that need to be addressed as well! same here i want to unsub because of this. A COYOTE scares people but any major car guy is pulling their LS stuf for coyotes. People like how cheap a LS was to start with. $500-$1000. Coyote 1500 to 3000 now. But a coyote can make up to 1200whp and run as fast as 7s in a mustang gt and 8s in a f150 in the 1/4mile with no heads no cams no pistons no rods no opening the engine unless you want to go built motor which then you can make up to 2500hp on factory block. yote is the new king of swap. 5 sec fox bodys 7 sec s197 7 sec s550 mustangs and 8 sec modern f150s with boost and fuel. turned down they can look clean instead of the heads and cam to make power you can throw a turbo on a factory coyote and make a reliable 650 to 750whp
That C notch needs some PFS love!

I absolutely love the ‘48-‘50 F1. In my opinion, the most beautiful truck ever designed. It’s the combination of the horizontal bars on the grill, as well as the nostrils on the hood. It just has unmistakable attitude.

Brent at Half-Assed Kustoms made a simple tool for installing the GM fuel line fittings. Works well for him. You could have Duff make one for you.

That brings back memories. I had a '49 that was bone stock. That Flathead was the quietest engine I have ever seen. Everything worked so well I never had the heart to change a thing. No mistaking that front end. If only I had Cragers for it.

@@MortskeRepair Nope. A sewing machine made more noise. I had to turn off the heater to hear if it was running. Amazing low rpm torque too. You could take a right hand corner in the city in third gear. Never missed a beat. OK, I had ET Diamond spokes.

The Twin I Beam suspension was introduced in 1965. When I was a kid, we had a ‘66 F100 and I remember the “Twin I Beam” badges just in front of the doors.

Love the how to! Mortske you never disappoint, LS swap isn’t my first choice however your hook in it up nicely! Never thought of a Dakota front end “that’s really neat!” Please finish getting it going, don’t push it off in the corner, btw I was a Napa counter guy for awhile and those fuel lines had so many different ways to be installed per our customers lol. Your way worked good. Truck looks to be a cool ass old truck when done. Thanks again I look forward to each episode.

That truck sure looks like the one I did the roof some rear cab work and some door work on as well..... The man who owned it gave it to his nephew and we did the work on it up there in Minnesota.. It was built from a light green 49 a 48 that was dark blue

Oh, the joy of builds. Endless hours of work only to change our minds three times before we find a solution we like for every step. That being said, you got a great looking project on your hands. Halfass customs uses a wood block he has drilled and cut in half to put the fuel line ends in. He clamps the hose in the block and taps the end in. It is a pretty good idea he had and he makes it look super easy.

When I was a kid my dad had a 48 Ford pickup truck with a 383 commando police interceptor out of a 63 Dodge with a push button automatic and a 9" rear end out of a 69 Mercury Cyclone with 390 gears. It was canary yellow. Craiger SS mags It was a sharp old truck.

The Chevy electric fan system works great when you also use the fan harness and flash the ecu with factory efan settings. They are super quiet. But like you said, fitment is a problem. I converted my 04 Tahoe to 05 efan and it was an awesome upgrade. I used a reworked oem fan harness and a new oem fan.

Love the 49 Ford. My first vehicle was a 49 pickup with the V8 flat head. Had a factory radio that took the 7 miles from the farm to school to warm up the tubes. That should be a sweet ride when finished.
