Also, some plants have separate sexes, i.e. Ilex plants,(hollies)if this is true with an avocado tree, then get the graft from a known female tree and also a male specimen.

I am a retired vet tech, studies have shown that dogs and cats crave greens and that is why they eat grass, too much cloriform in grass is why they puke. Add green beans or peas to their diet helps a lot, rinsed first of course.

Most fruit trees are grafted so that they can bear fruit immediately. Yours grown from a seed is not. So you have to wait until it matures before it fruits. It varies with variety. I think avocado trees are about 5 to 9 years.

Dogs eat grass for fiber or a dietary deficiency, or maybe just for fun....lol And also avo trees take up to 7 years to fruit even longer, some super quick - i think it depends on the variety... Sorry about the chickens!

Hi my mom planted 2 avocado plants that she raised from a seed and a friend of ours told her that they would not produce fruit because one had to be a male one had to be a female so they could be cross pollinated anyway to make a Long story short two weeks before my mom passed away she was able to eat one of the avocados that came off one of her trees and we got a bunch of avocados after that for years. I would go ahead and get another avocado plant and plant it like 5 foot apart that's what she did it's something to do with the pollinate cross pollination. Good luck👍✌✌

There are basically four types of avocado. Male and femail that blooms in the morning, and male and femail that blooms in the evening. You need one suitable male and one suitable femail to get any fruit. It may take upp to fifteen years to get fruit. But it is a fine plant.

I have a 30 foot avocado tree grown from a Publix bought seed. It took 7 years for it to flower and now does so every year. I get lots of fruit when the raccoons and possums decided to let me have it that year. Go to a landscape supply or rock and gravel place and buy some of the seashell gravel (whatever it is called it is what our dirt roads are covered with here) and put it around the plant as wide as the canopy. Don't use shells from the beach as the salt is bad. Avocados love calcium.

Kelly i didnt see anyone else answer your question bout why Finley is eating grass.. ALL dogs do it cuz it binds in their stomach and stops them from having diarrhea and the pains with it.. if they ingested something bad thats making them feel ill they eat grass also to puke up foreign things... like a stink bug.. dogs can smell which grass is ok to eat so no worries.. hes normal puppers..

Hi Kelly it's Kathy from West Virginia I really enjoyed this video and you're findings that was really nice I've never seen Florida sand and always wondered what it looked you know I know it's not the same in every area of Florida every Beach on the in Florida but considering this is close to your house that'd be amazing to live there are you in Jupiter is that where you are I wasn't sure I love to do research on things that you do or you know things that's in your your town where you live and like I looked up republics and but I couldn't remember what part of Florida you were in I know that you said you were you were raised in Florida all your life was you born in Florida then and then how far away is that beach from your house and how far away is your parent's house from your house I'm just curious that's all what time does it usually get dark there I mean it'd be fun to go to the beach when the sun setting in the evenings and I don't know dare you allowed to have a fire on the beach or cookout at that beach there what was the name of that Beach and have you ever done crafts with the seashells seeing you guys pour the seashells out I'm just like oh my God I want to send her a manila envelope and have her send those back to me or send a box what could I do that would you do that for me I would love to make seashell like flower beds I'll be really pretty if you put those in the around your house I mean considering you live there you can get a bunch of those it just be so much prettier than Moss you know and they stay they're not going to you know they would just be pretty it would stay longer than Moss and it would look really pretty but to do like hot glue picture frames with seashells on them I've always wanted to do it's just different when it would be like from you or from one of the UA-camrs that I am subscribe to their channels like Brody Moss with young blood I but yeah I wondered if you would be able to I would pay shipping if you would get me some some seashells and no certain ones I don't care if it's just a scoopful you know I would love to have a box full but I don't I mean that would probably be a lot of shipping and handling cost could you let me know these if you get a chance to answer these questions and about your chickens I'm so sorry I hate that because you had special chickens feather necklace and the brownie or what did you call him but especially feather necklace that was unique course I've seen them now so I know what they look like and but do you think it could be that they ate on the the plants that you got crawling up the fence it could be poisonous to chickens since it did die and it's coop you know it went and got it was sick and lay down and died so it's something that it's eight that is poisonous obviously and I have to be or may if it's not the plants because you got the the plant box there too with plants in it several different plants might want to check those out I could do it for you if I knew what all the names of the plants was but I didn't write them down but that climbing one looks like it would be like an eye Catcher in The Birds would probably just love to pick up that and that's what I'm thinking so yeah you'll probably lose the other two and where's your turkey what happened to Mr Turkey so maybe I mean it does look pretty I know you're doing it for decoration with the the I can't think of the name of it that crawl the the ones that's calling up the the fence to the it's stayed here and I'm tired something tells me that is probably what killed him is they had been eating those plants and got sick and it was a poison toxic to him so you might think about taking all the plants off and see what happens with your next litter or maybe these last two before it's too late cuz you got several different kinds of all kinds of plants you know it's not not your grass or the soil cuz it didn't happen before so it's eating so much of those plants could do it for sure or maybe a poisonous bug flew in and I don't know but I would check the plants out for sure good luck with everything talk to you soon hopefully you can answer me backes hope to hear some answers if not all from you soon love you Kelly

I've heard the same as to avocados not prospering from seed. I have tried a number of times in a hot house up here in New England. They all grew to about 24 to 30 inches then wilted and died. My local garden center says many plantation grow hybrid as well as GM varieties. So there could be something to it. But it could also be a question of soil pH (acidity). Your county agent can do a soil test on the pot mix you're using. Keep at it and good luck. Any commercial growers near you?

I'm not sure if Parvo affects chickens but I know Florida has a real problem with these types of diseases ( long warm seasons ) . We got the most beautiful German Sheppard pup and I asked the breeder if she got their shots ( at least 3 times ) and she swore she did . We kept the pup in our enclosed porch and I heard him whine several times that night . I checked on him all night and he started throwing up in the morning . He started looking weak and was shaking so I ran him to the vet and he died before I could even get there ( really sad .. I was p'd off ) . I told my barely 3 year old son we had to take him back to his Momma ( he was too young tell him he died ) . So we immediately started looking for a new puppy and got our first Great Dane ( with all her shots ) . I sprayed the whole yard with water and bleach and even did the enclosed porch . My son absolutely LOVED Jesse you could NOT separate the two and that's where we learned to love Great Danes . PK

Hey Kelly, quick fix for the starting box bottom. Screw some cleats across both bottom boards to hold them together acting as a unit. Screw up into side boards on long edges or ... Through side boards into edge of bottom boards ... depending on which overlaps the other.
I skimmed but always nice to see the home front, family, garden, and the "Lucky Dog."
    Enjoy your time off.
PS: Kelly and subs - I found this amazing young woman athlete online the other day, just popped up on my home screen. Incredible Talent, Disciple, Good Character.

The avocado will eventually fruit, which takes many more years than it would on a grafted tree. However, mono-embryonic varieties (which most are) don't grow true to seed, meaning the fruit won't be the same as the parent fruit. There's a high likelihood that it will produce low quality fruit that won't taste great.

You can try to give your chickens 20 milliliters per liter of water Apple Cider Vinegar to improve their health. Or Google it some people give their ideas. I do 20 mls. 👍🏼

You definitely need a male and female tree, but some trees are both sexes. It also takes longer than you would think for the tree that you plant from a seed to fruit, mine have taken about 8 or 9 years. I suggest that you call or go by the Mounts building in WPB on military trail west of PBIA. There is also the rare fruit council in WPB that hold their meetings in the same building. A lot of very knowledgeable people.

Rip to the fluffy butts. Might want to feed them basil to help with viral infections.

Go to Cracker Barrell off SW 10th ST in Deerfield. There are so many hens running around there.

Have you done any shark's tooth hunting on Nokomis or Manasota Beach? Last time I went out to Manasota, I found over 100 teeth in under an hour.
