Release parking brake and insert stoper on both front wheels to avoid car rolling either forward or backsword 1. Loosen the lug bolts (you need ground resistance to turn the bolts, lesson learnt) 2. Put the EBP in pad replacement mode to disengage the caliper piston procedure: go inside the car and make sure all doors closed and push Start button on time, and toggle the back button until it goes to the mileage, first press and hold phone call button and then press and hold OK button at the same for 5 seconds. The cluster shows up vehicle DATA, move down to pad replacement position and hit OK and the cluster shows up: to move to fitting position and press Ok and get out car 3. Raise and remove the tire 4. remove the caliper and pad, push back piston with tool Replace the pads and reassemble the caliper on to the rotor (grease the retaining bolts, wear indicator, etc.) 5. Pump brakes until you feel the resistance 6. Reengage the EBP (similar to #2 above) 7. Yes of course, mount the tire and lower the vehicle 8. Repeat on the other side :)
None of this was necessary. Sit in the car, disengage parking brake. Turn the car off, and turn it on to position 1. Change the drivers screen to display the mileage. Once there, bit press and hold the call answer button, quickly followed by the ok button. After 3/4 seconds, it will open a service menu. The 3rd option automatically releases the parking brake for you. When you're done, do it all again and that option will re-engage the brake. I have a 2020, and did it myself about an hour ago. These cars didn't change from 2017-2020
@@thomastrammell2418yes, you actually can on this car. they just don't know what they're at. It's a service menu, that requires a specific button input sequence to unlock. But it is absolutely on this car. I have a 2020. They didn't change from 2017-2020 whatsoever
I couldn't get the service menu to appear (2017 GLA 250). Gave up and did it this way. Not bad at all. One thing I did not shown in the video was reset the ebrake position with Star DAS. The parking brake didn't hold until I did this step.
I have a question - my rear brake piston on my 15 gla250 was retracted manually without using this technique, will this damage it ? I found out about the electronic brake and that its not a standard brake setup afterwards =|
Hi I'm wondering how do I go to the fitting position because I'm changing my 2015 mercedes benz c300 rear brakes. I changed the one side buy accidentally something happened I couldn't get to the fitting position on the 2nd time. I also get the message on the screen parking brake see operator manual. Please help me out or any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
put you car on first on switch then press and hold the phone button and right away press and hold the ok button and hold both at the same time until the screen show you the steps.

That's great, but it won't work on a 2018.

some people have no reason to touch that part of the car.
What was the purpose of removing the plastic cover on the e-brake motor? You didn't do anything or show anything there after removing it.
