    Disclaimer: You don't know the meaning of the "awkward stage" until you've tried to grow your sides out again after having a haircut like this. Not for the faint of heart.

    Started growing my hair out almost 2 years ago, decided to go with the undercut & viking style braid. In the later part of the awkward-phrase as hair is only shoulder-length, but I'm diggin' the look, and looking forward to the hair to grow out more to have a more profound viking look...

    It’s funny when you’re a barber by trade and you’re waiting to say the barber is doing a bad job then you see she’s using the same tools as you use, then you hear the client saying what you always say. This is the perfect video. If your barber ever complains that you’re too picky you need a new barber. I’m not happy unless you’re happy. If your barber doesn’t have that mentality then you need a new barber. Your barber should never be focused on time, always quality.

    • @johndoc3517
      @johndoc3517 4 роки тому +1

      I personally would recommend just the top. Originally i grew everything out for 3 years and the hair was be really hard to manage, and due to it’s volume it looked more like an afro. When it’s just the top the awkward phase is much quicker since you can put it up in a ponytail in about three months. On top of that the undercut gives it a more fresh and modern look.

    • @jonhoover6034
      @jonhoover6034 4 роки тому +1

      Harmon Dushane I have curly poofy hair as well and for years I did the undercut, without knowing that’s what it was called. It does cut the volume which can be good. But also can give you a mushroom cloud look lol. This time my hair is 3 years long and no undercut and I wish I had done this a decade ago.

      @@WulfricTheBlack but even with a ton of conditioner my fair falls into this triangle shape that I cant as stand. But I probably wont do the under cut. It's just too much of a sacrifice for how long I've been growing my hair

    • @WulfricTheBlack
      @WulfricTheBlack 4 роки тому

      Harmon Dushane I think what you need is a long layered cut. Probably best done when your hair is dry. They basically shape out the bottom corners of the triangle. So it’s more rounded. I have the same issue unless I’ve let at least my damp hair dry while it’s pulled back, and pony tail is twisted until it buckles in on it self in the twist then put a tight hair elastic. Basically that just curls it inward when it’s dry and down without using a heat tool. I want to get a long layered dry cut but my hair without being stretched is only 4 inches below my collar bone in front. In the back it’s between my shoulder blades. So maybe next year

    Be careful guys with the super tight braids or even hair pulled back too tight, same with hats. You can create small localized bald spots from too much tension. Women and girls suffer from this, look to ballerina and gymnast types and you can see it along the hairline and sides.

There are many researches about hairstyles of the real Vikings and none of them has anything about this undercut on the sides hairstyle. There are records of they had regular long hair, they had shaved on the back of the head and many other styles but there are absolutely no records about they wearing this undercut on the sides hairstyle.
