And, that's what we're doing today folks; pouring a foundation on the property we're building right next door to my house. Come along, let's pour some concrete...

    The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

    I like the video Ron. Would've been nice to see the hard parts that were skipped over though like...
    1.what to do when the threshold is not level or the jambs are not plumb but you've convinced the homeowner that this is totally tackle-able without even alluding to the fact that they may need to consider this before ever putting a giant hole in their precious house's exterior wall!
    2. or how to get that trim installed and looking good so that there isn't a permanent eyesore at one of the most viewed spots of their most expensive investment.
    It just would have been nice for you to responsibly address these issues so that the homeowner knows that these are big to do's and important calculations.

    I’m installing a similar Pella door and this by far has been the MOST instructional video on how to DIY (install) it. Ignore the trolls; they never have anything productive to add. New subscriber thank you 🙏👍

    • @RobTraz555
      @RobTraz555 3 роки тому +4

      You shouldn't ignore the trolls on this one. All of the installation is correct except for the fact that the stationary section and the slider section are flip-flopped. I've installed 1000+ patio doors and have never, in my career, witnessed a slider that has the track on the outside. This door is installed wrong. Period.

    Nice job! The only step he missed was checking the door for square by measuring diagonally from the top corners to the bottom corners to make sure both measurements are equal. You have to make sure the door is level, plumb, and square to ensure it rolls smoothly. RIP Ron.

    Shouldn't slider be on inside? Inside track is less likely to get debris on it and you can put a security bar on slider when track is on inside of fixed door

    • @billyjack3580
      @billyjack3580 2 роки тому

      Agreed. A diagonal security bar can usually be fitted to a door with an outside sliding panel, but it has to be crafted to securely lodge against the inside door handle. Problem is, the door can still be lifted off the track from the outside.

    • @kowen5323
      @kowen5323 2 роки тому

      Outside sliders like this have no need for weep holes. The water should never get past the slider.
      Inside sliders need weep holes because the water is expected to get into the track. The weep holes give it an escape route.

    • @Guillotines_For_Globalists
      @Guillotines_For_Globalists 4 роки тому

      @John 14:6 KJV I always wondered that about those Pella windows with integrated blinds. So essentially there are 3 panes of glass but only two are insulated with argon?

    • @larrymoore6640
      @larrymoore6640 4 роки тому

      I'm moving into a house that has Pella windows and a patio door with the blind options. The only problem I see is with the smaller windows that are the crankout style, window doesn't seal properly.

    • @RecklessTheory
      @RecklessTheory 3 роки тому

      you can't fill it with argon when it has blinds it will interfere with the blinds function and vice versa. You can get them with grilles though since they don't move but not the model shown here of course as it opens up. You go from like 0.28-0.30 (average) to 0.38 or worse with a door like this in u-factor I don't think it's worth it unless your climate is really mild.

      there is a procedure to take out the stationary side and swap it with the slider side so that it's then on the inside. It's a hassle but it can be done. Easier to just buy one that is already inside, or to install it so its inside.

    • @barbaratardif9849

      Sliding Door should be on the inside for security. Otherwise is can be lifted out, no?

    • @xersys
      @xersys 7 років тому

      You can't just swap the doors because the latching bracket the lock latches in to would be on the wrong side of the frame. I had the same problem when I bought my house, and the entire frame has to be removed, which is fine with me because I'm getting the same one as in this video.

    Great video, good instruction. My installation varies, so I have a question. At 7:12, you shim the door from the inside. My home (locally-owned mass-production home builder, late 1990s) is finished with a drywall return, not a trim piece. There will be no way for me to shim from the inside, as I don't have a trim piece that can be easily removed. Having to remove and repair drywall, mud, match an orange peel texture, then (potentially) paint the whole kitchen (we don't have the original paint to touch up - depends how well Lowe's can match a sample I cut out), adds a TON of work to the project. Any ideas on how to DIY a different way of shimming? Can I shim from the outside? Would I need to cut the nail flange, to fit in an exterior shim? Would that compromise the structural integrity of the door? Any feedback is welcome. (Current glass has a shattered pane; frame cracked in several locations along corners; frame leaks into the interior track; 22-23 years old; builder grade. Fortunately only a single pane shattered, so we have protection from the weather until I can get a door ordered; but definitely time for a replacement.)

  • @josephburkhalter5105
    @josephburkhalter5105 4 роки тому

    If there are any wood fillers in the frame, be SURE to prime and paint the wood particularly on the lower portions of the doors or frame parts. Mine came unprimed and the contractor did not prime or paint. Rot at the bottom. Beware !!!!!!!! Pella warranty starts when you order the product. Not when they are installed or delivered.
    Learn from other people’s experience not your experience. I learned the hard way. Replacing with Pella is horribly expensive.
