I’ve got both. I’ve had an Oasis for a few years, and got the Mini at Christmas. I prefer reading on my Mini as I can put a sepia setting that’s calming and I take it everywhere. I’m always leaving my Oasis behind. The other major plus is that I can download library e-books and audiobooks from Libby onto my Mini but not my Oasis, so my Oasis is getting less and less used. I subscribe to Readly and read lots of magazines and newspapers on my Mini, which it’s perfect for.

Great comparison! I currently own a Kindle Oasis, but am thinking about buying an iPad Mini for PDF reading. I understand PDFs might get a little squeezed, but I like the smaller form factor.

I think my Ipad mini was stolen! But, the main reason I preferred it over the Kindle (I have both) is that navigating throughout the book was always much more difficult for me on the Kindle than the Ipad Mini. Maybe I was doing something wrong - but I don't know...

You can also get a paper feeling screen protector called paperlike, which transforms the iPad screen into a screen that literally
    feels like paper.
Boom, you’ve got you iPad for easier paper readings, comic readings with the addition of a crome-book sized computer.. plus you can change the book lcd on iPad to make it easier to read(sepia)

The ipad is heavier which can tire your arms after a while, but the print is clearer on the ipad and if your book is information the colour screen is bette for pics graphs etcr, also if you like to use the audible narration, the ipad is your man,,,,but the oasis is a joy to hold and its not connected to social media which to me is a big plus, I'd go the kindle, but unlike this excellent review I would recommend the oasis over the paperwhite.

I have an iPad mini, but I’ve never fully enjoyed reading on it for all the reasons you mentioned. I agree if you are working with color in any way then the iPad mini is excellent. I will take a closer look at the Oasis based on your review.
BTW, your presentation and pace on this was perfect 🤩

Jesus Christ put both devices on the table and let us see them side by side?

Excellent presentation in every way! But it does not address the iPad benefit of Apple + News which allows you to download magazines and newspapers that would normally cost a subscription. My wife has one and without paying a dime, I can read the New Yorker, Washington Post, LA Times, an impressive list of publications that would cost a hefty subscription price. Amazing, how do they do that.
But there's more. I have two subscriptions to the LA Times. Why you ask? Am I an idiot? Maybe, but the reason is this. If you have a subscription, unless you purchased it through Amazon (let me repeat that, you have to have purchased the subscription via Amazon) otherwise, you cannot add the LA Times to your Kindle Oasis. I am the opinion that my regular subscription lets me read the LA Times on my Pixel (talk about mobility!) but NOT on my Kindle. You have to subscribe through Amazon. That makes me furious, as a subscription to the LA Times, is over $100 per year (I don't even want to see what I pay.)
Not only is this wrong, it's insultingly wrong on the part of Amazon. So adding to the benefits of the iPad mini, you get for nothing access to an impressive number of publications (like the Atlantic, like Wapo). If I get enough likes on this post, I will provide the economics for why it's still better to go with the Oasis.
