    BMW S 1000 R - an absolute beast and an awesome motorcycle refreshed for 2021+. I'm going over what it feel like to ride it now and one thing that went wrong again. BMW, fix this and you'll have a perfect naked bike! With slightly Japanese-like look and rubbish mirrors, but that's not what the R is about. My Instagram page: / thevtold
    The 2021 S 1000 R shown in the video belongs to BMW Liberty Motors dealership in Piaseczno (Warsaw), Poland and there you can test ride it: libertymotors.pl/

    My 2018 S1000R weight 197kg after changing to Akra Ti Full System, replacing seat cowl and mirrors. 195kg is possible with forged wheel. I have a love hate relationship with the front face but the new one looks generic, while the old, authentic.

    Got a 2015 in Black and had it from new - awesome bike. Just put some handlebar risers on it which make it a bit comfier. Also a decent touring screen and a rad guard and it's a great tourer. Have a standard exhaust and the pop and burble makes me smile every time I ride it. Brilliant bike.

      I think that handlebar risers could help to even further counter what BMW have done here with this newest generation. I felt fine on the 1st gen, so I guess what you suggest would make a lot of sense especially on this newest one.

    Was considering this or the new 2021 Ducati 950S SuperSport - I went with the Ducati. It does not have the same level of power, but the Ohlins felt better than the electronic suspension on the BMW, and the Ducati is (in my view) better-looking, with somewhat effective wind and weather protection. I also looked at all the tech that comes with the BMW, and worried about how much it would cost to fix when it breaks in a few years... I have owned a BMW car before, and they are not something to own without a warranty or your own personal repair shop!

    7:18 This happens if you hold yourself on the handlebar while accelerating, which you should not do, because the influence of the wind is transferring into the handlebar through your arms. If you dont hold the handlebar too firmly while accelerating, it will not wobble.
    While accelerating from/to higher speeds, just hold yourself with your tighs on the tank, tuck forward without applying force to the handlebar and you'll be fine. (I own the S1000R and experienced the same thing)

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Рік тому

      I prefer holding the bars firmly and I guess that BMW should expect riders to do that if they want to stay on the bike instead of fly away. Also, rolling the throttle open requires you to hold the grip rather firmly, doesn't it? I do blame the chassis in this case and it's quite specific to the S1000 platform as it used to be very much present there in the S1000XR of the 1st generation too.

    Came back and looked at the new silver One they had on display in the showroom and bought it, the difference between each generation is very noticeable but this all new model puts its Two older sisters in the shade, ride One and you will understand.

    I would pay not to have keyless ignition on a bike. It's techno nonsense, adds to the cost of the machine and is something else to worry about. A normal key is simple, reliable and, doesn't cost a fortune to replace. Too Much Tech for no good reason.

      It found its place in cars many years ago and I love it ever since. Same with bikes for me. Not sure what the reliability rates are but if we were looking at new tech (which is fairly new only in motorcycles let's say) this way, we'd have no ABS till today. Some still don't want ABS actually, but a large group had their lives saved thanks to it at some point.

    Personal opinion. I like the new model because it is innovative and up to date for 2022, but I will buy the model 2019-2020 because it is the most proven model with 8 years of history and all defects are removed as much as possible and asymmetrical headlights are recognized in the crowd. Everyone knows that this is a BMW, you can't confuse it. The most important thing is that it can be bought for € 13k and up to 3000km from an authorized BMW dealer with all the extras / options and a two-year warranty. The new model will cost $ 22k if it is fully equipped with extras. The verdict is more than clear.

      I'd say it's totally not necessary to upgrade the brakes here. Size doesn't seem to matter that much here I believe. Especially that it's very easy to lock the rear wheel, so it means that the brake isn't too weak. Of course ABS immediately kicks in so that the wheel keeps rotating but the stopping power of the rear brake alone isn't great because of a lack of traction, not because of the brake not being powerful enough. I'm pretty certain about that. Hope this helps.

    Really BMW bikes give you the best build quality? I had 2014 s1000rr and now the 2019 s1000rr m package and I find the build quality very disappointed for the price and for BMW flagship race bike. Very low-quality plastics everywhere It's something I expect on cheaper Suzuki bikes, not BMW.
    Also, Going cheap on the brakes which are great on the street but kinda lacking on longer track sessions.
    I find Ducati bikes to have the best build quality all fit perfectly with top-spec details that really look and give you the feeling of a premium bike the only thing that rivals Ducati in this is triumph.
    I think you're mistaking build quality with the smooth feel of the engine and electronics.
    Other than that they're amazing bikes and blast to ride.

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  2 роки тому

      The definition of quality or rather perceiving quality may be in fact different. Engines and electronics aren't the case I think as I've been riding a variety of bikes, BMWs and others, for years and my perception has been the same basically from the beginning. Now the way that the switches look, feel and "click" I do count, I also consider how smoothly the handlebar works, how solid certain elements feel and how they look. I believe that this would reflect how I judge this aspect.

    New S1000R is a lovely package, but keyless is a pain in the arse. You’re always searching for your keys. Here’s an idea, why don’t they design a key holder on the bike….. it could take the form of an keyed ignition lock. 👍 The asymmetrical front on the older model was iconically BMW; the front of the new model now looks like any other naked bike - sadly.

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  3 роки тому

      I agree with your view on the looks. It used to be like the GS family still is - sort of honors the heritage. As for searching for the key, do you mean that since it can now be anywhere on your person with the keyless system, then you cannot find it in the end?

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  2 роки тому

      If you'd be into sitting in a much more sporty position, having a stiffer suspension, and likely a bit more agility, then yeah - why not? S1000R would give you all that in comparison to an XR. However, I just realized that you meant the 2018, so perhaps the "R" might not the so much more stiff than the 1st generation S1000XR.

      Jeśli szuka się bardziej sportowej pozycji i bardziej konserwatywnego wyglądu, to pewnie tak. Jeśli woli się charakterystyczną gębę i nieco bardziej komfortową pozycję, to nie ma co kombinować. Odczuwalne zmiany nie są moim zdaniem jak niebo a ziemia w codziennej jeździe.
