I was born in 93 so its awesome to be able to look back to how the games played out in real time. I love watching the legends of the game in action in their primes.
Glad you can witness what a lot of us here love. It was such a different era and style of play. The game changed dramatically in 1978 with the passing rule changes and expanding the schedule and playoffs.
This was and still is one of the greatest wins in Broncos history, going into Oakland and smashing the Raiders 30-7. They were so pumped up for this game because during the week Coach Red Miller played them film of a ton of Raider dirty hits and cheap shots from over the years, told them how much he despised the Raiders because of it and told Denver the way to beat them was they "had to play the Raiders game", physical, smash mouth football and that day they did, picking off the Snake 7 times and only allowing them 7 points. After the game the Raiders left the field in a hurry, in the book "77" they mentioned how when the game was over all you saw were the headsets laying in the mud on the Raiders sideline, they left as fast as they could so as not to have to face the Broncos players walking off the field, and this also was the game that LB Tom Jackson recovered a fumble, ran past the Raiders sideline, waved it at Coach John Madden and said "it's all over fat man, that's it, it's done", meaning the Raiders dominance over the Broncos. All these years later and it still stirs emotions in me and other long time Bronco fans!
Raiders returned the favor a few weeks later in Denver and of course they met again in the AFC Championship that year. Officials missed Lytle goal line fumble recovered by the Raiders, which was the difference in the game.
@@dlong2870 They also nullified a touchdown catch by Jack Dolbin so Denver also got rooked. Dolbin said "it was the greatest catch of my career but it didn't count", said he got his hands under it and scooped it up but after the score the ref in front of him was looking at him not saying anything, then looked at the other ref who finally said it hit the ground. Neither one of those blown calls would exist today with all of the camera angles, and those calls were instrumental in replay coming into play.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this channel; thank you!
I’m now 60 and these were the best days 📺✨
I was born in 77. Unlike Gen Z and Millennials I’m interested in things that happened when I was young and before I was born
That's a strange generalization to make. Not even an accurate one, either.
This is the 70s version of RedZone.
Jim Thacker! Didn't know he did NFL games. I grew up watching him announce ACC basketball.
memories like the corner of my mind, misty water color memoires
Also weird seeing Larry Czonka of the 1972 Dolphins play for the Giants 💯

Last year before they changed the rules to help the offense, thus the low scores.. OJ has some nice cut back moves.
Bud Grant in charge of the special teams. They were unbelievable 1:28:32
Coach Grant was an all-around great coach!
Probably my favorite Coach ever. This coming from a Kid growing up in the DFW Metroplex during his heyday.
