    Kennedy Island and the story of PT109:
    Kennedy was a lieutenant during WWII and captain of the PT109, boat that was wrecked during a japanese attack. Kennedy and his crew swam to Plum Pudding Island, which will later be renamed Kennedy island. Because they had no food or water, they decided to swim South to Olasana Island, and later Kennedy went to Naru Island to find help.

    I visited Kennedy Island in 1998. It was pristine, devoid of any artefacts or structures, just like when Kennedy swam up to it. Sad too see the commercialization, but interesting to see it again.

      In this case, I don't think the commercialization has ruined it, at least not yet! We're not really talking about a touristic place, just a couple of guys telling you about the history and trying to protect the surrounding reef. But I agree it would have been nice to see it exactly as Kennedy did!

    We enjoy your videos and enthusiasm. If I can respectfully suggest you change the music style as it does not match the relaxing, beautiful scenery, but then again I might be getting old. Free Range Sailing channel has worked a nice balance and the music credits are at the end. Keep up the good work and enjoy the adventure.

      Thanks a lot! Sorry for the late comment (issues with youtube :S) but thank you very much for the feedback, it's always very useful! I'll try exploring other options with the music, see if something different works better, but I guess I need to find a good compromise between dynamic and chill... I'm thinking about it ;)

    How long are you going to be there for? What are the living costs and is it easy to get supplies and fuel?

    • @SailingTakeItEasy
      @SailingTakeItEasy  4 роки тому

      I'm sure you've already figured but we left the country already (sorry, didn't realise I wasn't getting notifications for comments :S)
      Supplies and fuel you can easily get from main cities like Munda, Noro and Gizo. Fuel is fairly expensive (10 solomon dollars per litre for petrol) but the rest is cheap! Plus you can trade for fish and veggies in pretty much all villages so all in all, it's very inexpensive

      @@SailingTakeItEasy thanks for that, is diesel expensive too and is there anything you reccomend taking with you if it's difficult, expensive or impossible to get there that for instance is easy to buy here in UK?

    • @SailingTakeItEasy
      @SailingTakeItEasy  4 роки тому

      @@rayhsetwo8594 Diesel was less expensive but we don't use it so not sure, I'll ask our friends and come back to you. With regards to things to take, it really depends on your lifestyle and what you plan on doing there. For the most part, everything you'll find there is pretty much food - and even, just the type the locals eat (so no meat or dairy, mostly fish, fruit and veggies, some rice in big cities). The things we regretted the most not taking was more fishing gear (very difficult here to replace a lure when you loose one). Are you planning to go? I don't mind messaging you in private with lot more details!

      Sorry for the late reply (some issues with youtube :S) and thanks for the feedback. I'll be looking into other options for the music going forward, but we try to use the music to give the video a dynamic rhythm, maybe too much haha
