With Ryan's ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan, I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!
I actually really want to do this in my town. Its inspirational how many people actually used them. I want to see that same thing happen where i live. I think i'm going to try this.
Sometimes a simple swing in a person's life can make an unhappy person feel like there's some light in the world. Maybe some uplifting of the human spirit can lead to someone making a breakthrough in their own lives to avoid a lay off or avoid losing their home.
keep up the good work. We need more like this. Yes some kid might fall off one. Yes some kid might get hurt. Yes some kid might..... well you get the rest. Kids take chances. part of growing up. Let the kids have fun.
00:52-00:55 I ride my bike over that bridge all the time. Great little community right there. Atwater Village... great breakfast burritos... Right off of Los Feliz boulevard by Riverside Drive behind the tennis courts, If anyone cares who's in the area
You can think of better ways to help people with $1k? Really? THEN DO IT!! I love this project. If you watch the video you can plainly see how this brings people together. Makes families closer. It also spreads a little happiness. Those swings might be the one silver lining in a crappy day that causes a person to break. You never know.
What a fun and sweet thing to do for our community. I'm not sure how it classifies as hipster art but even if it is, its a kindness to remind people to play in a world where fun usually requires a DVR.. I am so sad to see negtive comments, especially ones tha t express concern about who is at fault when someone breaks their neck...has our societ become so litigious and paranoid all people think of when they see a swing is "DANGER!!!" followed by "Who can I sue if I get an owwie?"
There are swings at MacArthur Park that would clearly support an adult's weight. Yet adults can only use them if they are accompanied by children. OF COURSE, I understand that allowing the homeless adults who live at 'McCrackhead Park' in the playground would make it thoroughly unpleasant. But as a woman grieving pregnancy loss, it just twists the knife. As I walked past the swings, I keenly remembered the physical thrill I would feel in my stomach as I swung back from a great height 30 years ago. If I was wearing my baby boy on my chest, we could enjoy the swing together. As a small infant, he would probably fall asleep. But as he got older and entered the "delight" phase, he would screech with unabashed joy at the fun and pleasure of the swing. I have no children to bring with me. Nor am I "with child," so the fun of swinging will have to remain a distant memory for me. Just like the very brief life of my embryo.
Some cool ideas here, I especially liked the swing they installed under the wharf. Unfortunately, the end result of this concept will be some horrific litigation when multiple children get nasty splinters. It appears that they didn't bother to sand the wood planks, there are sharp corners evident in the video. Hopefully I am mistaken about this.
Wow people. Their doing something fun and that other people would enjoy. I cant believe this world has come to putting someone down for doing a good deed.
i love swings....this seems like a really nice project. it's a shame that if someone did something like this in my area, within about 5 hours, all the swings would be vandalised/stolen.
@NYBuildings I don't exactly know what it is that you do, i'm an architect, and yes, maybe a shelter would be better, but it doesn't mean it is more important. Part of helping society is actually making them happy, now, you may not find a good use for a swing but most kids will, being happy aviods deseases and stress, wich actually leads to a better society, a shelter is just a temporary "patch", changing the mood of a city is an actual solution

There should be more swings in every town.

@SuperTimmac - what are YOU doing to fix all those problems?

@mikesbaker
This does make a difference. Far more than $1000. worth of help for one person. This makes the city of LA a better place to live.
what pier is that swing on? i really wanna go swing on it :)
anyone know what that song is called? i love it
Wow people. Their doing something fun and that other people would enjoy. I cant believe this world has come to putting someone down for doing a good deed.

@NYBuildings Do you live in LA?
Swings make people happy :3
This was cool. :]
There should be more swings in the world
Great... Now I have to look through comments TWO times to find the original comments
this is a good thing
who else instantly thought of mary and max when the music started?
Can u do this in Pittsburgh?
@NYBuildings I don't exactly know what it is that you do, i'm an architect, and yes, maybe a shelter would be better, but it doesn't mean it is more important. swings=happiness:)
