The taxes was with interest and fees accrued. And as an older lady, shed get a lot of exemptions. But yeah property tax is about 1-2% a year on average. Okay taxes are not typically 27,000 a year. But if you fail to pay your taxes, they charge you penalties and interest, and the interest and penalties keep adding up over the entire decade. Imagine getting a credit card, and then maxing it out at 10 thousand dollars, then not making a payment for 10 years. Every single month they will add a $60 late fee, and the interest will be running the entire time at an APR usually around 22.9%. SO that 10k you charged after 10 years can be over 50 thousand with late fees and interest. The minimum payment per month would be $300. If you fail to make any payments, the interest alone will give you a nosebleed. You would owe well over 50 thousand dollars for only a 10 thousand dollar debt.
We pay an average annual property tax of about 1.2% in the US, meaning you'd pay 5k annually on a 500k property. Since 1.2% is the average, there are obviously places with higher rates(up to about 2.2%), so there are many scenarios where someone could owe 500k in unpaid property taxes if they skipped for 10 years.

I live in a small town in a rural area, and my property taxes for my home and average size yard (1,000 Sq Ft) is around $5,000 a year. So yeah, some property taxes are the same or higher than $27,000 a year.

So far I find that the funniest comment is Ellie saying incredulously, "$27,000 for taxes per year!" And this from someone that lives in Europe, which supposedly has very high tax rates. (Although as I understand it, Ellie and Michelle are from Eastern Europe, where the rates are much, much lower.) Unfortunately, that is just for INCOME taxes, as others have written about, there are a whole host of other taxes that the average citizen pays, as well. By today's tax rates, an income tax burden of $27,000 per year, implies an income of $137,412.50. The U.S. tax code is very complicated, however, and there is a whole host of deductions and exemptions that would mean that the income was much higher. And as someone else wrote, if taxes aren't paid when due, there are interest and penalties which are owed as well. My guess, however, is that this was for ESTATE taxes, which are monies owed when someone dies. (Hence the expression in the U.S., the only two guarantees in life are "death and taxes".) The movie was filmed in 1996, and they say that "ten years" worth of taxes are owed. So let's assume that the grandfather passed away in 1986. At that time the tax rate of estates over $500,000 was FIFTY-FIVE percent (55%). If the grandfather had an estate valued at $800,000, then the estate taxes owed would have been around $165,000 (($800,000 - $500,000) * 55%). The IRS charges interest and penalties on amounts that aren't paid in a timely matter, and even assuming a modest rate of 5% per year, then this would grown to roughly $270,000 over ten years. Now estate taxes are supposed to pass from one spouse to another, tax free, but if the two were not legally married, or if the assets in the estate were only in one person's name (i.e. the house), then this is something that could totally happen. And yes, the IRS does have the right to foreclose upon your home, if you don't pay your taxes. (But this usually doesn't happen, and instead they just place a lien against the house, and then get paid whenever the house is sold.)
Hustle is the newest that I have seen. Its an underdog feel good movie I Reely think the homies will enjoy it! And thank you to all the homies your videos helping me get through this rough time.. Thank you

happy gilmore was one of the films that really made adam sandlers career depends on the house, depends on the area, depends on the state...lot of complications...it's all about where you live, which house and value of the area, house...how the state does things...bla bla bla. in golf u have to get the ball in the hole in as few hits as possible...but the hole in professional golf is a long distance away so the better u are at hitting the ball long distances (and getting it close to the hole) the better.

My favorite movie hands-down
A movie with amazing bloopers is Grumpy Old Men. The movie is amazing. Sophia Loren is in the sequel(Italian actress).

The taxes would also include a large fine for not paying taxes for 10 years. It's probably like 6-7k a year at this time. Probably 10k now.

in golf u have to get the ball in the hole in as few hits as possible...but the hole in professional golf is a long distance away so the better u are at hitting the ball long distances (and getting it close to the hole) the better.
