A common cause of soggy carpets in these is blocked sunroof drains. Lots of info on the web about how to fix these

Always liked the 75, especially in estate form. Can’t wait to see your new wafter 👍

Had a 2000 Honda Civic back in the days and it had the same leak at a similar place, dashboard had to come out to do it properly. I was told the sealant is soo weak that over the years and vibrations/weather makes them brittle and even a hairline crack can let water in. Was an absolute headache, however I had the carpet out when I noticed it till it was fixed so carpet was saved.

Nice video! I like so much the Jaguar-like interior. All cars needs to have some wood! :)

The 75 interior is luxury on a budget. I've owned 2 and they are great but once you drive and sit in a late 90's early 00's XJ you realise the Rover was luxury for a third of the price so fit and finish is a bit ropey too. Lovely car but it's the great pretender to any top end Jag barge.

@cornflakespacket absolutely. I was leaving work one evening with one of my dispensers and they saw my xjr, had a look around , kept calling it a damn Rover 😂 I've ridden in a 75 and while it's nice, it definitely was a cut below in quality relative to my XJs

I adore the 75. Just love the styling and the interior. It still looks good now. Test drove a tatty example recently with trademark missing chrome around interior door handle! The 2.0 CDT is slow but I like the sound and the ride is almost Citroen-esque! My Dad had one in 2002 from new as a company car. Broke down a lot but we used to drive round Bolton listening to stuff like the Bach Brandenburg Concertos. It is a special memory we share. That car couldn't be any better for me and my Dad's love of classical music. We also had lots of mk1 Focus Zetec as hire cars from Hertz while it was being repaired. As an car enthusiast. It was an added bonus for me! 😅

Fair play to you for doing all that work! A guy a few doors up has a tatty one, albeit fairly well spec'd. I admire it whenever I walk past, the car seems to deserve a better reputation and standing than it had in my opinion.

You can rent or buy a fog machine for that. Put it in the car with all doors/windows closed. Put it on and just watch the smoke escape. It also could be the boot seal thats leaking .

Good idea thank you, it’s definitely not the boot seal it’s coming from higher up and drips on the inner wheel arch

The trim clips that hold the chrome strip round the rear windscreen are known to leak.

Why do modern manufacturers commence the build process with a carpet and then construct the rest of the car around it??? I remember cars from the 60s and 70s had easily removable carpets and rubber mats. I would have thought they would be a whole lot easier to install on the production line as well. It was a bit of an eye-opener to see so much of the rest of the interior falling to bits. I thought the last ever Rover model was better built than that.

Im on my 3rd Rover 75... one of them had over 480k on the clock no leaks... But the x2 low milage 75s had/have terrible water leaks.
i don't wanna remove the car interior. But the interior of my British Racing Green 75 is like a swimming pool

Leak through tail lights, sunroof drain hoses come off under dash poor fitting by rover. Sunroof vents block. Saggy headlining, poor handbrake many fail on mot. Corroded brake pipes front to rear. Chassis corrosion.springs break puncture tyres, door cards sag poor fixing glue. Front lights mist up due to oxidation. V6 2.5 cam belts cost!. Had 5 from V6 2.5 which overheated and cooked engine ending up on a scrap lorry £300. 5 speed 1.8 turbo only 5 gears not for motorway driving. They can be a money pit. Prices still good thou. Advice spend a bit more for a good one but please check MOT history at DVLA.

Tourer doesn't have the tail light problem like the saloons do, sunroof drains would be the most likely culprit.

This looks such a lovely car. It's a shame the "post BMW" owners destroyed the company. Perhaps Rover could have been a "step down" from Rolls-Royce. I recall once reading Rolls-Royce advising salesmen (it would have been men back then) that if they couldn't afford a Rolls-Royce, then they should buy a Rover. Well done, Joe and girlfriend. Great job, I look forward to watching the next video and seeing your new car.

I always liked the look of these but never risked buying one in case they were as unreliable as the Discovery.
