Matt, Long-time fan and you absolutely nailed-it on this one!!! I'm now in my mid-70s, and the horrid roads here in Los Angeles drove me (pun intended) to trade my 2020 Mustang Ecoboost for a Certified Pre-Owned 2020 BMW 330i with 23,000 miles. Dealer price was $28,600 and the car was immaculate. First impressions were word-for-word how you described the car - smooth, quiet, comfortable, yet responsive and fun to drive. I spent 20 minutes dealing with all the settings, 'tuning' the car to my needs and turning-off all the infernal 'safety' features that kept wrestling the steering wheel out of my hands. Now I truly love driving this car, and the mileage has been most impressive. Thanks for a fabulous and highly accurate review!

One of these with the performance options absolutely rocks on a racetrack. I’ve embraced Civic Type R, Porsches and corvettes with a regular b48 powered BMW with all the performance options. They get completely flabbergasted and never thought the base BMW could do fast lap work.
Ive owned a few cars over the years, and honestly none compare to that driving feeling bmw gives you, the stiff suspension and handling on these cars make you feel more confident in turns and corners
My only ongoing issue with BMW & Merc’s, even at great used prices, is the insane cost of maintenance and parts. 10x the cost of other luxury class vehicles. It’s so cost prohibitive over the life of the car.
This unfortunately hasn’t been true for 20 years, owned them all. Every Lexus or Acura I’ve owned has been just as expensive as any non-M bmw I’ve owned. In my opinion if you can’t turn a wrench or have nepotism money you should avoid any luxury car.
Modern bmws are completely different from the ones from 10-15 years ago. The b48 and b58 are stout reliable engines that have proven themselves over and over again. Great gas milage without compromising performance or reliability. There’s a reason Toyota chose to work with them on the Supra.
BMW really upped their game in 2012 with the F30 generation 3 Series. I had one for 7 years and only had one issue with it -- a rock broke out the lower radiator on the freeway. It was more reliable than probably any other car I've ever owned, including brand new Honda, Hyundai, Ford, a Mazda. Just stay away from the n20 4cyl due to timing chain issues, until model year 2016, when they fixed everything.
Getting one of these in the next couple weeks for 18,200 had 52k miles and was in a “moderate” accident according to CARFAX but bmw fixed everything up there selves so I’m feeling rlly good about it
I have a 2020 330i with the convenience package and it has blind spot technology. I have to say that the steering wheel does not feel light but the oposite. Great car.?
Got a black G21 Touring and me and my wife love this car whole heartily. It is truly made for Autobahn with its 8-gear gearbox where you can get down to 5.4 l / 100km (900km on one tank) while at the same time you got a sporty experience if you want. Nice comfort, great interior, fantastic handling and overall a beauty of a car.
My wife's last car was a 2021 330i with M Sport. I miss that car; it was fun to drive and got super good fuel economy. We averaged about 32 MPG combined - yes, combined - over the two years we owned it. Add in that it handled great, had a good infotainment system, had comfortable seats, and looked great with M Sport, it was a very impressive car. It was somewhat firm-riding, however, but not bad enough to be a deal-breaker. I think the adaptive dampers would have made it ride better.
I drove this car, then a Mercedes c300, then an Audi A4, all CPO, back-to-back a couple years ago. Ended the Audi test drive early and purchased immediately. And I really wanted the BMW going into the drive.
Got this model (and color) as a RWD on 19s and can confirm a nice upgrade from a 2014 Impala lol. I’m sure I’m still in the honeymoon phase since I got it at the start of the month, but this car is just FUN. It does luxury and sporty both very well. Definitely a fan, love the look with the larger 19” wheels
I've been in a couple competitors. If you like the interior, your honey moon phase will last a long time. And if you have any taste, you'll love the interior. Its by *far* the nicest design of anything in class. The only thing I can't stand is the shifter. I would literally rather buy another one of these than anything newer BMW makes. Those beaver tooth grills are ugly and I much prefer the integrated infotainment screen in the 2020 3 series to the giant dashboad-tablet in newer ones. I can see myself buying this car 3 times, no joke

At 34k miles the heat management went out and was replaced under warranty… something with the fuel lines at 55k went out and under warranty. At 100k the check engine light came on and it was something about the vent shutters down below… but then the light never came back on and everything seems to be ok. However, at 128k miles I’ll need new motor mounts they are collapsing, just replaced the drive belt and tensioner cuz it started to squeak and now I may need to replace a valve gasket cuz when I replaced my spark plugs one plug was filled with engine oil! Overall, transmission is great and engine is strong.
@@ThatguyWitjokesnever had coolant issues and the dealer did tell me my oil pan is starting to show signs of possible leaking but said I didn’t have to worry about it for a few months depending how many miles I drive. Said that repair was $2500+

@@SpaceAgePac traded it after a year, lost all the equity it had built up. They tank in value. And little issues here and there other than that they drive really good but never again
I'd have to look at the maintenance schedule and see when the big services are due, but personally for this one in particular since the motor seems pretty solid I'd probably feel comfortable keeping it at least till 75k assuming there isn't a crazy expensive service at like 60k or something.

I think depreciation isn't bad at all on these cars. A 2020 non-MSport car with the options this one had probably would have cost a buyer low 40k range out the door when it was released 5 years ago, nobody was paying MSRP. If they are still going for nearly 30k that means it retained close to 3/4ths of its value 5 years later. Maybe that's more of a statement about inflation's impact on the used car market?
I have driven this car and that’s how I know I’m aligned with Matt on tastes. The steering does feel distant but the handling itself is great. The engine sound feels too fake for me but it is powerful. Overall a very capable car but too distant feeling for my tastes
We actually bought an A4 over a 430i because the BMW suspension was way harsher for the crappy roads we have here. The A5 wasn't available at that time. I won't get a BMW with run flats. I would still take a used A4 or A5 though over the 330i.
@@MattMaranMotoring I hope you do! I am a bit concerned for when the A4 gets refreshed or remodeled. Audi of late are reportedly less reliable with interior quality definitely going in the wrong direction :( We plan to keep our A4 as long as possible; it has been so good so far.

Seems like they are going for about 29000-38000 depending on the year, package, and mileage. I saw several recently in the 15000-30000 mile range with CPO going in that price range. One was a 2021 with just under 1400 miles on it for just over 36000 at a BMW dealership, CPO good until 12/25.
The G20 generation 3 Series fixed all the issues with the prior F30 generation -- with one exception: The ride. I think the ride in the G20 generation is terrible for daily driving.

Awesome car- it's just sad that even in 2020 a standard Toyota corolla had more safety tech than that car does. (sigh). And today you still have to pay extra just to get adaptive cruise control- I mean what is that about? 🤷♂ I think just about every other car manufacturer that is standard.. lol. I feel like they are making the safety tech about a cash grab by not offering as standard.
Welcome to the wonderful world of BMW. Great cars, but they will charge you for everything that should be standard, inducing basic safety features that come in economy cars.

So, this would be my first car, and I have divided opinnions because, in my job, some co-workers are telling me to get a Brand New car because it wouldnt give me problems in the next 3-4 years of use. However, my sister/dad tell me to get a Second Hand car because its cheaper. So, I have my doubts and I wanna hear you all. I want to get this BMW, and I can save some money for a good down payment, but I want to know what you guys think.
The 330I M sport would be more competitive to compare to the other vehicles than the base 330I
Ehh depends . I have a 2020 330i pushes 356whp not bad for a 4 cylinder.
why did you have to call me out like that
Awesome car- it's just sad that even in 2020 a standard Toyota corolla had more safety tech than that car does.
I would like to last gen. Lexus GS review. I think GS was killed too soon.
I'm hoping to review one of those eventually too. I've only ever reviewed the GS F.
hows the reliability on these?
Engines are bullet proof
@@TeeWadeGmore to reliability than an engine
@@machine4443 Your comment would be valid if I was in here defending a 3.5 Lexus
@TeeWadeG point is the only reliable part of a bmw you can vouch for is the engine, but its the parts around the engine that fails!
@@machine4443 I can vouch that this particular BMW, worst case, is going to be just as reliable as anything else nowadays meanwhile the engine will be more far more reliable .
These are known for high oil consumption.
The 20 year old ones with a different motor and trans sure . Not a b48 lmao .
You say sporty way too much in this video for a car that hasn't earned it even if it did have the different front bumper
I can't even buy a bicycle rn😂
Everyone would laugh at someone who bought a used bmw
But I think it’s worth it
Huh?
Drive Assist Pro is a game changer on long travels. And this car is stiffer than the C class only thing I dont agree with in the review
For under $30k definitely not bad
That sh!t is niiicceee!
It's got a great fake noise lol
This is not luxury, nor is it sports. 😂
🙂👍
Exhaust is not real silly you 😂😂😂
