Nobody is ever ahead of their time. Some ppl however create their time. And you're clearly not much aware of late 70s new wave. I don't mean the synth crap Americans call new wave, I mean British new wave, known around the world as post punk.
I remember Jim Carrey once said in a ca. ‘95 Rolling Stone interview that he fell up a flight of stairs on his first day of high school in order to get everyone talking about him
@@demonlord6956 If I had to guess I'd say acid or ketamine or possibly just a lot of weed. Honestly it kinda sounds like music written by someone who has to take antipsychotic meds for real.
Whenever I listen to their albums or see live performances I think the same thing, like it's so maticulous but seems like it's always falling apart, the skill in this band are unparallel
Holy Fucking Shit. I've loved these guys for so long, never thought to look up a "VIDEO"! Now I have and I'm blown away even more than before. Of course, not for everybody. Just the refined few
One of the best bands to come out of the 90s Midwest scene. Festering rionions is definitely worth checking out. Fuck, that was a good time to be a youngster. My 2nd favorite next to Butthole Surfers. Their concept of deconstruction of sound and composition is what makes it all worth while.
How does someone with the name Bonsiisuperstar a Brianiac call NOT like US Maple, Timmy Taylor once told me in an interview they were his favorite rock band...
Yeah this is one of their most accesible songs. If you wanna see how abstract they can get i recommend listening to their songs: Northwad, When a man says ow and Bumps and Guys. In my opinion they are much better than Sonic Youth, though maybe not as great as Pere Ubu’s leader, David Thomas, who is one of the greatest composers and best singers of the last century.
True, acre thrills (like all their music) rides this perfect ballence of being complete disjointed chaos and soaking in the beefheart, to sliding seamlessly into a catchy ass riff or some impeccable groove, the whole album feels like I'm a train that's slowly drifting off the tracks while being yanked back on at the last second. While beefheart never had any tracks to begin with. Just a train flailing endlessly through forests n shit
And I said yeah oh man that State was bad You know I tried and tried Until the bright lights cried So I just said Yeah oh man That state was bad bad And all the girls there Well they all got a groom So I just sat in a state that's bad And all the men Man well they are just like dad So I just said yeah Oh man that state was bad You know I tried and tried Until the bright lights cried So I just said yeah oh man That state was bad And if I come back Im dumb
I'll be honest here, I don't understand how this is so mind-blowing. Drummer is pretty great, guitarist is pretty interesting, but overall it just sounds like a cat stuck inside of a dishwasher
In spite of all their efforts not to, they still rocked.
this could come out THIS year and still blow everybody away...
STILL TRUE
it could not cause my dad is a heroin addict
I gave it a like 10y ago and I'd do it now
@@everythingwrongwiththeworl8883 alotwrongwiththeworld, your dad in this band?
This band will always be ahead of the curve no matter what point in history
There are those who think the Beatles were the all time best band. And us. Who know for a fact it's u.s. maple
one of the best bands of all time
one of the most unsettling shows i've ever seen. and completely awesome
greatest band of all time.
In more ways than one, I totally agree
I might have to agree with you on that. Definitely the best live band!
Genius. US Maple were so ahead of their time.
They're still ahead of their time in 2020
Nobody is ever ahead of their time. Some ppl however create their time. And you're clearly not much aware of late 70s new wave. I don't mean the synth crap Americans call new wave, I mean British new wave, known around the world as post punk.
2024 and this prediction remains lamentably unrealised
His voice is insane
Saw them at a bar in Madison WI a LONG time ago...maybe it was OK CORRAL?...Never forget them. SO ahead of their time. Underrated.
Underrated is an understatement
They've always sounded like a band playing a set while falling up a flight of stairs
wow this actually makes a lot of sense haha
I remember Jim Carrey once said in a ca. ‘95 Rolling Stone interview that he fell up a flight of stairs on his first day of high school in order to get everyone talking about him
Haha man that makes alot of sense for some reason
I got Long Hair in Three Stages in the mail yesterday. It was well worth the wait.
Vinyl or cd?
You still enjoying that?
Thank you US Maple, and everyone remotely involved, and everyone else who appreciates these efforts, well I like you!
One of the last great rock bands. Saw them a few times in the mid 90s.
what a glorious everything.
sounds so indie and fashionable. this tune is my all time fave
this came out the year i was born and it rocks my socks off
No words but fantastic.
I love Al Johnson
best band ever . i had the pleasure to follow em on tour and do drugs all toghether
Serious question, what drugs were they into
@@demonlord6956 If I had to guess I'd say acid or ketamine or possibly just a lot of weed. Honestly it kinda sounds like music written by someone who has to take antipsychotic meds for real.
tickles my nads everytime. wow....amazzzzing!!
I'd never heard of these guys, but this is fantastic stuff.
I love these guys
this song makes me very happy.
COOLEST fucking band ever to bless us guys.
its weird seeing people like my dads band lol
Which one is your dad? Your dad is a total genius.
oh man, I've been rock'n this song/cd in my car daily!!!! re-visiting a classic LOL
THANKS!!!!!!
ONE OF MY FAVORITES
remember last April, when we saw US maple? somehow the singer showed the fireside exactly how i feel!
Mad props to 2 awesome Chicago bands
tghese guys rock hard
I showed this to a friend and his first response was "do these guys have some kind of mental disorder, or are they just faking it"
I think both.
lobotomy punk (see also Glenn Branca's "guitar solo")
in 1995, you were given your choice of either the Foo Fighters or US Maple. most chose the Foo Fighters.
i chose skin graft... still have the original metal sleeve version of this album
fuck foos and fuck the most
@@elaborator hey man foos are pretty rad, def choose maple tho. But what's not to like about loud catchy bangers
@@cxcmb jelly, almost dropped 70 on it, it's the only u.s. maple original I don't have :/
Thankfully
Best song ending in rock history.
AMAZING!
Whoa?!
All these years later I'm still like what the fucking hell...! But I like it!
awesome!
wow thats trippy
one of the best bands
still pure love for those sickos
As a musician I can not imagine any Hell worse than a US MAPLE gig rehearsal. So damned complex and confusing.
Whenever I listen to their albums or see live performances I think the same thing, like it's so maticulous but seems like it's always falling apart, the skill in this band are unparallel
Sam Rockwell! God, that's been torturing me.
The blood brothers have that same chord progression when the singing kicks in in the song rat rider.
Holy Fucking Shit. I've loved these guys for so long, never thought to look up a "VIDEO"! Now I have and I'm blown away even more than before. Of course, not for everybody. Just the refined few
the lead signer is my dad he can give you an Autograph
i really hope you are not serious.
he clearly says "barack obama" at the end of the track
this band rocks so fucking hard
Am I seeing a yamaha sg here? If so, the world's most overlooked utterly brilliant guitar
you got that right

I Listen a lot mx80/beefhart, this good band somehow missed out!
How does someone with the name Bonsiisuperstar a Brianiac call NOT like US Maple, Timmy Taylor once told me in an interview they were his favorite rock band...
Why the 90s was awesome
I may have borrowed this drum beat
Don't worry, Samson may have borrowed it from Washam on "Upbeat"...
This is the first U.S. Maple song I have heard and my first impression is:
"Sounds like David Thomas (Pere Ubu) fronting Sonic Youth circa 1990-1995"
Yeah this is one of their most accesible songs. If you wanna see how abstract they can get i recommend listening to their songs: Northwad, When a man says ow and Bumps and Guys. Mine was "sounds like a polvo record, put in a blender, and molded into trout mask replica"
Matt Skiba brought me here :)
Somehow the singer showed the Fireside exactly how we feel
🤘🏻 same
What are some other bands you guys like that are in the similiar vein of us maple??
arab on radar
balls yes.
finally real music
Can you do a reupload in better quality? even a clean 480 would be awesome!
Dude this was 15 years ago, I don't think he's reading the comments.

Acre Thrills especially sounds very much like Beefheart.
NAH
Anyone know the type of guitar Mark Shippy (guy on the left) is using?
1978 Ibanez Artist
Sonic Beefheart.
Anybody got tabs?
this song blows my mind, dudes face bums me out
you're a douche.
@louisunderwood
Beefheart fan to Earth: Acre Thrills doesn't even sound like Beefheart in his most docile.
True, acre thrills (like all their music) rides this perfect ballence of being complete disjointed chaos and soaking in the beefheart, to sliding seamlessly into a catchy ass riff or some impeccable groove, the whole album feels like I'm a train that's slowly drifting off the tracks while being yanked back on at the last second. grrrr, and they dont show him playing the most interesting part of the song
I think the entire thing is insanely interesting from a guitar stand poimt
Great video! About as straightforward a "rock" song as these guys got- still not all that straightforward.
Al Johnson has really pointy (haha) canines.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I said yeah oh man that
State was bad
You know I tried and tried
Until the bright lights cried
So I just said
Yeah oh man
That state was bad bad
And all the girls there
Well they all got a groom
So I just sat in a state that's bad
And all the men
Man well they are just like dad
So I just said yeah
Oh man that state was bad
You know I tried and tried
Until the bright lights cried

they just are, get used to it
major fugazi influence here
kinda sounds like early krautrock???
I always thought they sounded like Devo a little bit myself
corporations are worst. US Maple shaking the nineties
🫠
sounds like an okay Fugazi throwaway jam
erm
mre
Actually, they're very much like Captain Beefheart and the Magical Band, who started in the late 60s.
Magic
More like polvo doing beefheart covers, but they keep accidentally playing coheasive
TOO PIXELATED
fine pickin son
