  • I have used this tank bag for two years and 20,000 miles and there are a few surprises I have found from the ‪@MoskoMoto‬ Nomad and their newest offering of the Nomax. We will go through the differences in the old bag and the new one as well as the riders this will work and won't work for on their rides.

    My daughter bought me the Nomax for Christmas and i love it! Extremely versatile, i can fit almost every tool i need that is significant to my Tiger 800 in this bag. Mosko’s gear is very well thought out so much so that i just purchased their Backcountry 35L panniers.

      You are starting to sound like me...a total Mosko fanboy. I have been really happy with all the products I have purchased from Mosko so far. Some items just don't fit for certain applications but across the board they are all quality products.

    Great timing. I ordered the Nomax a couple weeks ago when Mosko finally got it back in stock and it should be arriving in a couple days. Now I'm even more excited. I also have Mosko's R80 with aux pockets, 40L backcountry duffel, and Fatty tool roll. The quality and construction of their gear is really top notch. After chewing through several cheap bags and low-end gear over the past couple years, I would rather pay the premium for something that will probably last through the apocalypse than have to keep replacing junk. Also, like you mentioned, Mosko's customer service is phenomenal. Almost a bigger selling point than their gear.

      So awesome. I love seeing my Mosko stuff land on my front porch. It has been a couple of years now and I am getting excited to make some new orders. I have a similar backlog of various Mosko stuff and have always been really impressed with their offerings. As stated in some others' comments, they aren't perfect for everyone and their uses but they are certainly a contender for a lot of us.

    Great Review! I depend on reviews like this before buying various products. I have my Tenere 700 equipped with Mosko luggage including the Nomad bag and love it. The folks at Mosko ride and develop their gear based on their personal experiences. They are always looking for ways to update and improve things. For T7 riders, I find the Nomad tank bag does not get in the way when I ride standing up. Safe riding and keep up the good work...

    Really looking forward for this bag, but as some other people have pointed I also hope that Mosko Moto will make a weatherproof, camera-ready version of this. I know you can bring camera bag under the beavertail, but a real padded compartement will be awesome. A slightly larger version of hood with some nomax feature (backpack convertible, maybe also water bladder) will be awesome

    Bought the Nomex last fall as an alternative to my Wolfman tank bag. It’s very well made but just too small for my use. Too many tiny compartments for my dump it in the big bag habits. If you’re a hyper organizer then it is definitely the bag for you.

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  3 роки тому +1

      Definitely true. It was a big hill to overcome as a previous "big tub" type tank bag owner. I don't think this bag will work for everyone but it is a good option if you are interested in more organization or parsing down your tank bag load. Thank you so much for your feedback on this.

    EVERY pannier, tank bag or tool roll should have MOLLE!!!
    This looks like a great piece of kit.
    Personally, there's no such thing as over engineered!!!

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  3 роки тому +2

      That is a good point...there is always a cost to that engineering though and THAT can often get in the way. ;-)
      I agree that MOLLE would be a big help on any bike accessory as it just allows for so much customization along the way. It costs so little and can offer so much that I am a little surprised it isn't used more often.

  • @DiegoAstorga
    @DiegoAstorga 3 роки тому +1

    As always, flawless❗👍 I have the nomad version too. I come from big tankbags, I have a Touratech specific for my F650GS, tough as nail, not advertised as waterproof but I never saw water leaks inside, and as it's taylormade it fits like a glove on the tank, it's a mess inside but I'm not the kind of tidy and organized freak guy. I wanted a tankbag to carry my DSLR and I watched a video from Mosko Moto featuring that option, that's why I bought it but my Canon 6D is too big for the beaver tail, ok, maybe I can take advantage from the hidration system, I thought... But as the thumper has a faux fuel tank, the water was good for boiling eggs. But I'm still trying to become friends, so I leave the Nomad for urban deployments, as someone said, it compromises the offroad riding a bit, because it's good for the EDC needs for the city (tools, papers, etc). And regarding the price, I think it costs as much as any decent tankbag.

    • @DiegoAstorga
      @DiegoAstorga 3 роки тому +3

      Forgot to mention, the MOLLE webbing is the winner. I can add many tactical pouches and accesories. I 3d printed a gopro remote mount, bungee clips for my drone remote, etc.

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  3 роки тому

      Those are all great points and maybe you need to look at the poached egg possibilities as a feature and not a bug. ;-)
      I am in the same boat with the camera not fitting in the bag which is really the only reason, at this point, I would consider trading to a different bag. We will see what the next couple of years bring as I get closer and closer to my big trip in 2023. Thank you so much for the view and leaving feedback as well.

    • @AstheMagpieFlies
      @AstheMagpieFlies 3 роки тому +1

      You're right though Wolfman bags are more of a customize to your own experience, not so much built in organization, so that's totally a personal preference.

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  3 роки тому

      I agree and I am not totally sure which way I really prefer at this point but budget sort of locks me into just one for right now. I have a couple of big trips coming up in the next couple of years and it is entirely possible I go back to a larger, open design bag so I can keep my camera at the ready for easy off the bike shots. Anything to make the production side of the ride a little easier, amirite?

    What was your impression of the ease of refueling the bike with this type bag? Was this easy or hard?

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  11 місяців тому

      Super easy. For me, on the AT, it is just a release of one buckle, sliding the whole thing aside, and fill up. Afterward, I pull the velcro loose and reattach the buckle. Then tighten everything back down and off I go.

  • @GreenString

    Brilliant tank bag but completely flawed because it is not waterproof. Rain covers bellow and flap while riding. Everyone I know charges equipment in their tank bag. I would go for their waterproof version, less function but more practical for year round motorcyclists. Great detailed video and thanks for posting.

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  3 роки тому +1

      Yeh, I agree with you to a degree. I don't mind the bellow and flapping all that much but would, obviously, much prefer a weatherproof version. I don't know why it seems like creating an organized, weatherproof Nomad seems outside of Mosko's control. I would be working on the best option right now by increasing capacity, water resistance, and attachment points.

  • @johnroberthanna1623

    why on earth does it open from the front rather than toward the rider? That makes no sense.

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  Рік тому +1

      I think because the alternative would drop a lot of stuff out if the opening was pointed towards the rider. That side of the bag on most bikes would be pointing downward. If your accessing the opening on the bike it opens right up into your lap.

    Does the bag scratch the paint on the tank?

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  2 місяці тому +1

      There is a rubberized, almost neoprene, type fabric on the bottom and even though I slide the bag around often to get to the tank for every fill up, I’ve never had issue with scratches. Now I am sure there are micro abrasions as there would be with anything that is regularly and routinely in contact with the paint but I haven’t had any gashes or wear points from the bag after 6 years.

    The only downside to this bag is the fact that you have to strap it down. SW Motech has a tech that I think Mosko should adopt...too many straps and strap ons happening when you consider Panniers+backcountry duffels, now this....ill pass

    Unpopular opinion: Mosko makes poorly designed products. I've had a couple of the Mosko products (tank bag and 40l duffle bag) so far, and while they are built well, the design and usability of their products is absolute shit. Having used this tank bag for about a year or so, it seems to be designed for those who ride 90% pavement and the other 10% sit down gravel roads. Couple of reasons I ended up getting rid of it 1) Its just too wide and bulky to be able to properly control your bike with your inner thighs when you stand up, I had it on two different bikes, same complaint. It is not designed for those who enjoy technical riding 2) The multiple compartments, while nice for small documents and random stuff, will never allow to fit a decent size camera that you may wanna have quickly accessible 3) The water bladder compartment is so cramped, that stuffing a full bladder takes a lot of effort.. eventually just gave up on using it. Its a cost-adding gimmick, nothing more 4) No quick release mechanism means you have to fumble around with the clasps every time you need to fill up the tank. 5) Having to need a cover every time it rains, is really annoying, there are so many options on the market that are weatherproof. 6) Finally, having a highly compartmentalized tank bag seems nice in theory, but when you wear gloves and have to fumble through 3 compartments and tiny inner-pockets to get to something is beyond frustrating. Overall, while I recognize that most people review this unit very well, I think it's a very poorly designed product. This seems to be the case with other Mosko products I've tried so far.

      Spot on with my experience with their products. I bought one of their first pieces of luggage. Held about half of what my waterproof Touratech bag did. Very well made but just not adequate.

    • @BeGoneForGood
      @BeGoneForGood  3 роки тому +4

      Whoa...that is a HOT take. I really appreciate you taking the time to articulate your position on this bag. I don't necessarily agree with you but it is very helpful for other readers to get all sorts of different reviews of the products. For the standing up stuff, I don't have an issue with the size and actually found it to be a little small compared to what I was hoping for as I generally was "leaning into" my tank bag. I have since adjusted without issue but as you said, I don't do EXTREMELY technical riding and I am on a big AT. You are also 100% right about not being able to fit large items like a full size camera in this bag without sacrificing just about everything else. For the bladder, they have changed the design to be top loading as opposed to the bottom load I have and I imagine that would make the process a bit easier as gravity is working in your favor now.
      It is funny because I am reading this 1 day after shooting my Nomad negatives video where I highlight some of the same concerns you had with the bag. I guess great minds think alike... ;-)
      There are definitely things this bag does well and plenty of things it doesn't. It is important for folks to decide what they are looking for before making the plunge into a whole new set up.
