- "Beautiful Son" is Hole's fourth single released on April 8, 1993 and was recorded November 8-10, 1992 in Seattle. The cover features a 7-year-old Kurt Cobain in a collage made by Courtney Love.

Relationships fascinate me. Kurt & Courtney both had personal problems and mental health issues with drug addiction on top of it. When I see this on my own in life I immediately think it's gonna be a disaster (and it usually is). But Kurt & Courtney also had positive aspects to their relationship in terms of societal issues they cared about & a baby they were determined to raise (media talks about how bad their parenting was & I cannot comment on that because I wasn't there, but considering how addicted they were, the fact that Courtney was determined to keep her baby despite people pressuring for an abortion & go to rehab and get clean after discovering her pregnancy is honorable in a way), & also they're creative influence on eachother is so beautifully shown thru the art they made at the time. They're relationship was much like the drugs themselves, took it for the good effects but dealt with the consequences of the bad.
And then Kurt's incompetent parents took custody of her daughter anyway. Maybe it was for the best idk but I still think the justice system must've been extra biased against Courtney.

The pair of them were just completely used and steamrolled by the press at the time. How were either of them supposed to continue living a 'normal ' life ?
I do still believe that Courtney had a hand in Kurt's death, but when you are in a relationship and co- habiting, the lines between right and wrong become a bit fuzzy.

I still have this as a 12inch single.... Last two on the B side. Absolutely fucking awesome... The Power and the Despair... Fed me many a night. :)
In now way knocking LTT, but these three songs should have been on the album proper. If there was any fairness in art, we'd be getting a 30 year anniversary edition of LTT next year which would include these tracks and and a lot of others.

there is a Nirvana studio take of it, but it's very basic. No further work was done on the song then, it seems. Different lyrics too
Its a song Kurt started and then gave Courtney to use and finish. Courtney completely rewrote the lyrics and she and Hole redeveloped the song.
