Seems like I recall that if you have a cruising permit they'll waive the VAT charges on imported boat parts. I had an autopilot steering ram shipped into Marsh Harbor back in 2013 and I'm almost certain that I didn't pay VAT on it.
@lowcountrydawg2525 not sure if the laws changed, but I had to ship the part with the cruising permit laminated on the box. Either way, will most limits fly in and out of the bahamas if I need to order parts again.
