- Setting the standard as Coaches.
Lee, Aaron & Pat took part in the majority of the demos.
We wanted to:
1. Show things at a very high level & “real speed”. Something for GKs to aspire to.
2. Show that these guys make mistakes too.
In a way there’s pressure on them, because they’re representing us & what we believe in. Everything we talked about in the classroom, they have to demo it.
We try our very best to create an environment where all GKs feel safe & comfortable so they can do things with INTENT. The key word is INTENT. If we don’t fully try because we’re scared of failing, so that we can protect our egos.
But if you want to improve, you have to be vulnerable. You have to accept that you’ll make mistakes along the way.
And if we want to encourage this, we have to set an example as coaches. Not just the quality but the vulnerability & braveness.
The GKs don’t just see the mistakes happening, they also saw the reaction / recovery. The “worst case scenario”. We act as if it’s no big deal. Have a little laugh about it.
So we’re not just saying, you have to aim to be this good. We’re saying, accept mistakes are part of this & we’re all in it together.

hey fellas, could you make a video/give some tips on key recommendations for new goalie coaches? My local club have 4 keepers and are in desperate need of a gk coach, I've got little experience in that field but have been following your work for a while now so thought to apply.
some key takeaways I've gotten from your work is to:
-Emphasise match-day scenarios/situations and Decision Making in training
-Varying service quality and add pressure/bodies/obstructions in the way to make training more realistic to a game and challenge keepers further
-Varying distance/angles during training
Could you let me know anything else I should be adding on?
