  • Downtown Phoenix is the central business district of the City of Phoenix, Arizona, USA. It is located in the heart of the Phoenix metropolitan area or Valley of the Sun. Phoenix, being the county seat of Maricopa County and the capital of Arizona, serves as the center of politics, justice and government on the local, state and federal levels. The area is a major center of employment for the region, with many financial, legal, and other national and international corporations housed in a variety of skyscrapers. Major arts and cultural institutions also call the area home. Downtown Phoenix is a center of major league sports activities, live concert events, and is an equally prominent center of banking and finance in Arizona. Regional headquarters for several major banks, including JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, US Bank, Bank of America, Compass Bank and Midfirst Bank are all located within or close proximity to the area.

      Thanks for showing our lovely Downtown Phoenix. It's really come a long way. 25 years ago it was just a series of vacant lots and abandoned businesses. There actually is more of Downtown Phoenix than what you filmed. Some areas have improved others there is not much to see. Love your posts keep up the good work. 👍

    Downtown Phoenix has a lot of potential. It does actually get more populated than this and the artsy culture is more centered here but it's still pretty lonely after hours :/ The Fry's that they implemented helped a lot imo! @@donnyvgemini1692 Does not matter. Only people outside are homeless or lost their drivers license for multiple DUI's. Combination of ungodly heat and unwalkable distances between any and all locations means no one walks. Nice video. Probably filmed on a Sunday. It's been 2 years and in that time there's been quite a bit of new construction. Mainly condos, as they are expecting thousands of people to move here. The downtown area is nice and has been taken over by ASU, U of Arizona and NAU. They have a huge presence in downtown Phoenix now (2022). With the expansion, there are frequent road construction delays. And of course the video doesn't go to far off the main drag, as there are homeless encampments now near by. But the city keeps that somewhat under control.

    I was stationed at the former Williams air Force Base outside Chandler in 1985.
    35 years ago.
    I don't recognize one single thing!
    Williams air Force Base is now polytechnic Arizona State.
    It was pretty empty back then.... but it's empty now due to the virus 😁

      "Empty back then." I was born in Phoenix in 1932. There were no one way streets. The tallest buildings were the Hotel Westward Ho, The Luhrs and the Jefferson, and the Luhrs Tower also on Jefferson and Central. Talk about changes, well, even we do too, don't we?

    Why do all southern, American cities look and feel the same? That is one very quite city!

    • @michael85225
      @michael85225 4 роки тому +3

      They look the same because they are newer cities and don't have the classic architecture that New York or Chicago has.

    • @opheliavalentine6058
      @opheliavalentine6058 4 роки тому +2

      Micheal Lopez is right! Phoenix is such a young city and most of its buildings were built recently. Architects nowadays favor the “function over form” ideology so that’s why most of the buildings look modern and lack the classic detailed architecture.

    Would anyone be able to help with a question I have, so I am looking to move to Phoenix, or Reno, and plan on living in an RV, and I know it gets really hot in Phoenix but seems like there is more to do in Phoenix, but I think temperature wise, Reno would be better, idk, is the heat really that bad ??

    • @88detour
      @88detour 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, four months out of the year it gets 100 degrees plus (May thru September). Phoenix's highs are only 70 degrees most of the year (November thru April). Reno has much cooler weather than Phoenix in summer with highs in the low to mid 90's. Reno has very cold winters around 23 degrees in December. So its a compromise for both cities.

    • @Aspen567
      @Aspen567 3 роки тому +7

      I moved from Buffalo 20 years ago and it was the best decision I've ever made. Yeah it's hot, but you get used to it after a year or two and it's worth it for how beautiful it is here. Everyone just stays inside and in the shade more in the summer, then you're fine. Blows away Reno, no question.

      It is hot in summer, but mornings can be okay most days. When the humidity is low being in the shade makes all the difference. The direct sun is intense. The rest of the year is gorgeous.
