I have to admit that, Bill Hawks, was my favorite character in "Wagon Train", he was always the "Man" of the outfits crew. He was a "no nonsense" stereo type of that breed of men, whom pioneered the West, and a good man to cover your back! I always admired that kind of man, and what they believed in, a breed of men, who are almost virtually extinct, in this World today........

I have only recently discovered Wagon Train and I am hooked...I just watched an episode where Bill goes to buy horses from a friend of Chris Hale. The friend had just died, leaving everything to his daughter. Her greedy stepmother is outraged that she has been cut out of the will and she, and her cohort, try to kill the girl. Of course, Bill’s not going to let that happen!

If you liked this you'll love the movie "Joe Dakota."
Joe Dakota is a 1957 American Western film directed by Richard Bartlett and written by William Talman and Norman Jolley. The film stars Jock Mahoney, Luana Patten, Charles McGraw, Barbara Lawrence, Claude Akins, Lee Van Cleef, Anthony Caruso and Paul Birch. The film was released on October 27, 1957,
Joe Dakota, a handsome, mysterious, and not exactly pleasant man, reaches Arborville, an isolated oil-seeking community in California. He is seeking a former Indian scout who allegedly left the town after having sold real estate. Joe soon uncovers an unpleasant truth about the townsfolk and their oil well, which was built on the site of the Indian scout's farm.

Love old westerns, all of them. Disappointed in not having credits for the actors in this episode and for others. I love recognizing the actors ( That includes actresses) by looks and name of yesteryear who became stars years later. I also wish providers would publish the date of the original showing for each episode in the comments section.

      Wardell Edwin Bond (April 9, 1903 - November 5, 1960) (aged 57)
      Dallas, Texas, U.S.
Bond suffered a massive heart attack when he and his wife were at a hotel in Dallas. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
His close friend John Wayne gave the eulogy at his funeral. Bond's will bequeathed to Wayne the shotgun with which Wayne had once accidentally shot Bond on a hunting trip.
Bond was in Dallas to attend a football game between SMU and Texas A&M at the Cotton Bowl (the game ended in a scoreless tie).
