- From a June 2022 visit to Mason City, IA, watch as Baldwin-Westinghouse steeplecabs 50 and 54 navigate the Iowa Traction Railway in order to service customers along the railway. On this Tuesday morning, covered hoppers had arrived for storage and they needed to be shoved as far west down the line as possible. Engine 54 handled the task, first pulling the cars towards their destination, then running around them, before shoving them into place. Pacing that engine was a lot of fun! Enjoy the sights and sounds and subscribe @orionviii for more videos like this one. Also check out my June 2014 visit to Mason City here: • Iowa Traction Railway ...

This sure reminds me of freight trains operations on the Chicago Aurora and Elgin.
The last true freight train Interurbans. The length of these Freights is just like it was on the Chicago Aurora and Elgin. That line was discontinued on June 9 1959.
I'm glad this video could bring back memories for you. It was a lot of fun to see this in operation.
@@orionviii Definitely! If you could find a video on freight operations on the Chicago Aurora and Elgin compare these 2: railroads and I think you'll definitely agree on the similarities.
Very Interesting!!
Glad you think so! The Iowa Traction Railway really is an interesting place.
