The only AC that really gave me issues in the arena was warehound. I played it as a kid and my strat became getting him to run out of ammo. I swear he was harder than Aries. I can still hear the output down siren.
The only thing I hate about this generation is how getting hit by automatic fire puts a damage over time debuff on you that just burns your AP into ashes. Why does it do that?
I just recently played through all of AC2 a few days ago and I just used the missile weapon arms with the quad missile extensions on a quick reverse joint build. Literally killed everyone first try except 2 opponents.

I no diffed the arena with dual laser cannon arms, quad legs and the dual gatling gun back weapon. For the most part enemies will just about melt in front of you if you use those, the only dude who gave me trouble was "The Animal" who was one of the higher ranked dudes. I beat the #1 guy in seconds by opening with the gatling gun then spamming the dual laser arms once he was in front of me, similar to the rest of the ACs I faced in there.
I ended up going with a super light ac with good boosters and an absurd amount of missles for the top 15 or so. Just fly around on the desert stage and perch on top of the crashed ship when you're low on energy. It's cheese but I don't care. Also, AC3's arena is somehow worse.
I mean it might be that you just haven't seem to master movement and you're using a weapon meant for fighting a lot of smaller enemies instead of a dueling weapon. There was only really one enemy outside of the top 10 that was troublesome once you get the right set up.

Didn't take long for me to realize that energy machinegun was doodoo butter, even in missions. Such a cool concept though.

Yeah I hit a wall for a bit with this dude just last week. The energy machine gun may be a weak point in arena play.

yeah some AC3 arenas are terrible, especially the closed ones
Just use missile pod hand, fast lock FCS, and jump around with booster taping and foilla... Suddenly you're 9 breaker
