I screamed at my monitor when I saw you take out the hammer and screw driver!!! Interesting (and disappointing) that Aventon didn't send you instructions for removing and re-installing that bushing (would have been even better if they were to send you the jig to safely push the bushing back in). Thanks for posting this - I would love to know how that bushing was supposed to be re-installed (I'm assuming a sleave that slips over the stem that you can tap-down but I've never replace forks before so I'm just guessing).
Lol. Yes, was a bad day. I went to look it up and most bikes have the sleeve snug about the post and fits tightly at the bottom but no hammering needed. So far so good. Yes no instructions enclosed. We call that “ winging it” but it’s working well.
They are 80mm travel but would need to measure total length of fork. If too long may need to cut top. If I were to upgrade I would go air. Can go to 100mm but may sit up higher. To be exact I would have to shop around. I’ll let you know if I come across any that I like
Thank you for this video. Aventon just sent me a new fork cause my original one had a clanking sound. I am not a bike guy but I am generally mechanically inclined. So I thought I can install it myself with no instructions from them. However mine didn’t come with the starnut in the fork. Now I am stuck with no way to finish the install, and have to figure out how to buy and install that myself. Yours came with it preinstalled, correct?
I believe mine did come with the star nut as I just put the new ones one in without that part of the assembly. There are some videos out there to show you how but may need specific tools
@@Marvelofebikes thanks for the reply. Did yours come with the crown race as well? It seems mine is missing both, may have been sent out without pre-setup
My Aventon Level developed the clunk after 2 weeks, I'm waiting for a call back from Aventon, how difficult was it to get them to send you a new fork and how long did it take? Thanks
haven't had the bike for 2 months and my preload screw broke while i was trying to adjust it, debating if to just spend money on a better one or see if warranty replaces it.
Mine did the same. They sent me a replacement fork (Zoom) and it broke again. Hasn’t been a issue but it has a very week screw and soft plastic. Aventon will replace but it may happen again.
That piece you hit and broke. I’m guessing it’s some sort of bushing. How do you properly place it in? Because I just applied some pressure on the fork to let the bushing fall through and that seemed to fall into place. Question: does the lowest ring with the Aventon logo spin freely, even after tightening the final bolt?
Funny you should ask that. I am researching that now as I plan on replacing the fork with an air fork when it comes in. I am trying to find out what the part is called and get a proper replacement. The blue piece you see is a "crown race" and seems to be holding but is apparently not the right part. If you can assist, that would be helpful and I can pass along the info!
Where did you get the fork ring? Did not find on Amazon. Mine is not damaged but does not want to go down and seat in. Mine was also out when we took the stem off.. Dave....
@@DangerousDaveKincaid I originally thought so too but when I reassembled with the original ring, I felt some play when I did moderate braking. When I replaced the ring, it did fit tight around the tube., tucking tight. The cover and 3 rings keep that ring from coming out. I could be wrong but it makes sense when you look at it.
@@Marvelofebikes I kind of agree... When I re-assembled my sons bike and used the aluminum ring and then tightened the top hex bolt I did seem to get a snap. I did not take apart to see if the ring was again setting on top or seated. The grinding stopped though. I think my son when he installed the Redshift stem he overtightened the screw. Anyway, we are going to an Aventon event tomorrow and planning on asking all our concerns about the bike. But the bikes are really awesome.

Do you have a link to the seal you purchased? Mine did the same thing, was loose when i took it off
Thank you for the video! Do you know what the specs are for the factory fork? I would like to find a upgraded fork that fits our bikes.

Watched all your videos, great job 👍 Thanks for sharing a real world experience. Just ordered a pair of step throughs for the wife and I 😁
Thank you for those kind words. Congratulations and enjoy the ride!!
I'm wondering if you can replace the stock zoom with a Fox fork. Any idea? Thanks
I am looking into that brand but don’t want to break the bank. I will let you know
@@Marvelofebikes Thanks for replying. I am guessing someone will try a different fork, but of course, that may kill the budget appeal of the Aventure

@@johnspooner4128It took 4 weeks to ship but request only took a few days . Was not hard at all. They responded quickly.

Yes, the lowest ring does move and I'm sure that it's not suppose to!
Can you confirm the Aventure uses a straight steerer tube 1 1/8”? Aventon told me tapered tube, but to me it looks straight from your vid.
Yes, it is straight at 220 mm. Next vid I have coming out will confirm that for sure!

I got it at the end of September. Search for “
Cane Creek Compression Ring Forty 40 Serie 41/28.6” on Amazon. Let me know!
@@Marvelofebikes actually the aluminum ring does not go all the way down. It sits on top just like when you took it off.

Hmmmmm
Yea, I agree.
