I don't think they are dead, as much as the VTuber industry has reached a point of stability as a business. And now that the market is properly consistent, it has led to complacency.
eh, I don't know, when someone says "something-something" is dead, it's usually an over exaggeration of the situation, in this case, the novelty of being a Vtuber it's just gone, that's for sure, so the grifters that were never interested in the culture or the community are just going to disappear slowly, but saying that Vtubers are dead when Hololive just collabed with the Dodgers is kind of a reach honestly, most likely the view of an outsider than anything else.
"People popping off" means what exactly? Like whats the expectation? How much growth needs someone to have for him to count as "popping off"? I see regularly new faces growing on a steady rate and nothing different happened years ago, just in a hyped market with way less competitors. And the only indie Vtuber that i remember really popping off like crazy was Shylily... in 2022. I dont remember any similar growth before her or after her. Most big Vtubers are also absolute early birds, like ironmouse or Melody. Another outlier might have been Vedal with Neuro-sama, but that was again a matter of novelty of an AI-Vtuber. Everyone else noteworthy is just growing normally, with peaks whenever special events happen, so i would like to know what the expectation is here? Vtubers were hyped for a few years and now the interest in it normalized - what a crazy thing to happen. /s Its the same bs to call a game a few months after release "dead", because it just has 50k players anymore. And you dont see normal creators popping off like crazy either btw. Thats what saturation does to a market (duh!). There pretty much is no idea that anyone else didnt had before or that would be possible to realize, without spending ungodly amounts of money. And everything you have said was already said 2 years ago and are absolute common things people say to beginning streamers for ages at this point. (and that you have to make videos as a UA-camr is kinda obvious) "You wanna grow? You have to create content and promote yourself on other platforms and (in the best case) add something interesting or new to the mix." Yeah, nothing new. But how is this gonna help anyone to "pop off" like Tectone want them to do? Kenji isnt popping of either. In fact the very few times i even heard about him in the past year is only when he is again a piece of sh't to someone else or when he got the bigger end of karma in his face. He clearly isnt a prime example for a particularly successful Vtuber or a great role model, what kinda makes your whole video nonsensical. Also you really should reduce that "me so special, everyone else the same" bs. Not a great character trait and not even in the slightest true. Even less considering that you just do the same what several dozen others do as well. So yeah, either you really have never looked deeper into the indie Vtuber-scene or you are purposefully dishonest for the sake of making a point that cant even support itself in its own video.
Ah, yes you are right. Most new vtubers don't have like a "growth" mentality. They don't take risks, many say the same thing of being too shy and don't want to do any effort of doing more interesting or even irl stuff. They don't introduce new things or new dynamics with their fans, and some even get angry if you tell them to play different types of games, there is even one big vtuber that got angry and told something like "I will play only games that I like and that's all" and that same vtuber is now with less and less subs and less viewership.
I'll be honest, the west in general is very bad at the vtuber thing in general. The difference is that the japanese usually have some substance after the initial appeal hooks ppl in, they have charisma and can make content, while the americans just, do the same thirst trap stuff and participate and/or comment on the current drama. But "vtubers are dying" is a pretty stupid take to have, which I guess makes sense since the IQ avarege on that room with tectone is pretty low. Seriously I don't understand why ppl listen to streamers opinions like they're smart or have the faintest idea of what they're talking about. I do get the feeling of getting jaded by all of this vtuber grift though and I respect what you said on the video and I mostly agree.
@@buddasogudda His point that I was trying to echo in the video is that you don't see many vtubers popping off anymore aside from the few big dogs and that's very accurate
You are correct. I think the problem majority of the vtubing content creators is having is lack of originality. I see a lot of starting out vtubers trying to be like the big Vtubers like ironmouse and Filian etc. Setting the expectations way too high hoping something falls on their lap and not putting in the proper work to become original. In fact content creating isn’t just being a Vtuber. I mean I can record a video heating a bowl of chef boyardee if I wanted too and boom there’s content lmao!
More like vtubers in the western scene are losing their novelty, especially in the western indie scene. Unless there is a major change that sets a new precedent.

I beg to different tectone

Is that how grifting works you just slowly fade away into a mist?
The colors all blend together.
Damn i cant believe a woman could be this based. I feel just the same.

I disagree, very tubers are more popular than ever. At least well established ones like gawr gura and hololive.
