Just like he was given that opportunity by decisions in America and primarily by Kissinger maybe you can accomplish I'm sure you can The same thing by doing it now in reverse.
Face to face in diplomatic relations is also used to cycle analyze people because of their mannerisms. Diplomats are taught that the psychology of the face and the expressions that could tell him a lot about the person sitting across from them. They can tell a lot about that especially to recognize if somebody is lying to them and things like that
Cyprus is certainly better off strengthening its political ties with the US. The US n Israel.r also better off having Cyprus on their side on geopolitical grounds ! However, what we Cypriots demand from USA is their support to restore peace on the island by sending Turkish troops back to Turkey n Cypriots back to their ancestral homes n properties. The US along with the EU backed by the UN can implement it !!
Very nice; but do we really care about co-operation with the FBI and CYCLOPS? What's interesting about US-Cypriot relations is how in the 1960s and 1970s, US policy towards Cyprus was disgraceful. To all intents and purposes, the Americans pushed a policy of abolishing the Republic of Cyprus and partitioning the island between Greece and Turkey. As such, in 1974, they gave a nod and wink to the Greek junta's coup against Makarios and then Turkey's invasions. Anyone who reads the accounts of US diplomats involved with Cyprus at the time, the glee they felt at the catastrophe that befell Greek Cypriots, will end up feeling sick at American cynicism, hypocrisy and downright misanthropy. And what we want now from the Americans isn't visa-free travel but to make up for the disaster they caused on the island by using their influence with Turkey to end its 50-year occupation.
….and the change of the current status quo starts with one step at a time; we Cypriots and our rulers were not innocent in the choices we made in the 1960- 1974 and the repercussions of those decisions on the national integrity of the Republic of Cyprus. We welcome this new opening to develop real connections with the USA, as sitting on the fence all these years has not worked in our favour. Building trust between two nations demands a lot of work and time invested to construct bridges. Therefore the Cyprus problem will not be solved by a magic wand or through a single word by the USA….we all need to embrace this new opportunity to move forward without being tied to the historical mistakes of the past. Thank you for this opportunity…
They want cyprus for one thing only strategic location to the middle east. That is the interest. Not sure what all Cypriots will get out of this. They want bases.

Is anybody in cyprus who realy trust USA ? Usa is the country which is responsible for the problem we have for the last 50 years.
