I clenched my fists hoping Guts would counter the Fatal Glimmer Explosions, and desperately looked for a save spot to divine more recovery items while fighting enemies that spawned about two seconds from your entering location. And this music playing in the background fits all of that chaos so well.

well sort of. Tri-Ace likes to reuse their most classic themes, mainly because they CAN be reused without being tiresome. In fact most games avoid this because it seems cheap, but Tri-Ace succeeds because the music is so good people want it to return.

Yeah he was definitely at his peak back then. Star Ocean The Second Story's OST was magical too.
