Well, probably partly thoughtful, but also he's been in the wasteland a lot. You definitely don't want to walk around barefoot on hot sand. And driving without boots isn't all that comfortable either. It's hard to do your job right if every time you put your foot on the pedal, you scrape against sharp, rusted metal.

A Chain for a Boot: The brilliance of how this film has multiple story arcs that tie up nicely. The chain is used to imprison Max as Nux's captive, and during their fight with Furiosa it starts as a hindrance and eventual aid against her. It becomes Nux's Foil when it caused him to stumble and lose the grace he had just earned, and finally Nux's first active contribution in helping the group is to hand the chain to Max when the winch (also his idea) is too short. @@travismcnasty4239 It really does highlight that isn’t a man vs women world. It’s men and women against evil. What films tend to do is make a hyper masculine, cocky and ignorant female character. Ironically those characters perfectly embody the traits of “toxic masculinity” but people can’t see it through their double X chromosomes. Mad Max makes, most importantly, a good strong character that happens to be female

@@wardaddy6374 What I'm saying that this movie did it right. Max is still an unknowable, weird force of nature. Furiosa is still a person. Fury Road gives Furiosa a great character's journey. She rebels against her tyrannical, oppressive regime to esrn freedom for the brides.
It's kind of a proto antithesis of the "shero's journey". Which has been exemplified by superhero movies after 2016. Shero's journey is
      1. Lady is awesome.
      2. The world tells the Lady she isn't awesome.
      3. The Lady doubts how awesome she is.
      4. The Lady goes on a brief mission to relearn how awesome she is.
      5. She proves how awesome she is and the world learns a lesson.
Fury Road is more like, Lady wants to change the status quo. Status quo fights back. During the journey, the Lady learns of hidden strengths of her companions and how they apply to the world at large. Lady takes revenge on her oppressor. And ultimately the Lady gets to help the world, with the power of friendship and a little bit of blood from a maniac Wastelander.

the bullet farmer had spent a big amount of ammo already by firing blindly (pun intended). Max brought back a steering wheel, a single boot for Nux, an ammo belt full of what appears to be shotgun shells, a tactical vest full of various mags and bullets, and a Browning HiPower. Not much, considering how full of arms and ammo that tracked vehicle must have been.

Honestly I love this scene, one of my favorite scenes in the movie besides the Big Crash at the end and the first act of the movie. We do not know how Max managed to kill the Bullet Farmer, who in all honesty should have been the most dangerous man in the movie had it not been for Immortan Joe stopping him from killing everyone. And we are not shown Max's feat.
This scene is the very definition of Max, he is Mad, he is insane enough to face off against the Farmer, so insane that we do not want to know what he did.

The editor had 10 hours (and more) of footage but had to make it 1:30 (as the EXECUTIVES wanted) but ended up with a 120 minute cut of all the scenes, aka, the movie. There were many more scenes that could have been included as George Miller, the director, wanted but the executives wanted to keep it as short as possible (and initially PG-13, which would have made the movie very childlike and nowhere near as awesome as it is now).

This scene has a huge inspiration on a scene in Seven Samurai, when Kyuzo, one of the samurais, also goes, during the night, to kill two bandits with guns, the tension and suspense is basically the same, with the other samurais waiting for him, staring at the forest, then he comes back later with one of the shotguns after killing both of them, great reference i guess
