hey. i am travelling to HI, Big island, in two weeks - for seven weeks :-). The Waipio valley is definitely and sadly closed for hikers. I was there in 2018. it was incredible. I will take my hard tail mtb with me to ensure cycling also to beaches where I have to cross gravel (e.g. Makalavena bay)
