Another great vid. Can’t wait to get my hands on the portals. Do you know when they will e released? Also I have to ask what servo are you using? I see you’re not using he stock. My stock steering servo went bad a and cudos to Redcat for sending me a new one no charge but would like to put a beefier aftermarket. Thanks
where's part 3 I've done all this to mine one one thing I don't like is it squats funny on one in both front and rear not sure if this is a oil in shock issue or what but happened right after I did this upgrade
I ended up doing it in 2 videos instead of 3. I had issues with it leaning too. I think it's because of the 3 link front end. I never managed to get rid of it.
so bummed out I was fearing those top portal gears looked weak and would fail and a guy posted up a video showing they blow apart and break... Looks like my gen 7 is staying as is.
I noticed that the passenger part does not flex 100% as the driver so I added 5 spacers in the servo mount link of figure 52 of the manual which connects to the portal (video 11:56) so it is already even on both sides...😲 I'm using the same spacers that we use for the shock
@@BudgetRC_Channel oh ok. Thanks! Waiting on my gen 7 pro to get here today. First RC, and i am sitting here currently watching all your videos for it.
Finally finished, thanks to this video. I did go fourlink, and removed the panhard rod, mainly because i needed the hardware, (used kit, missing parts). I also lifted it, vs going to recommended positions. Now i have better articulations, steering (with 35kg servo added as well), and front only rubs under full compression and steering which i will fix later, but i will keep the steering settings low until i get the parts. Thanks alot for your vids!
I got a question that I would like to ask you, since your familar with Gen 7, Do you have picture layout on how links are to be aligned and I lost a ton of speed after putting on portal axle, I already installed 50t turn spur
@@chryslersj2011 the portals have a lot of gear reduction, so you need to run a smaller spur gear along with a larger spur to maintain the original gear ratio. I geared mine down a bit so that it would be better for 3S. I'm not sure what you mean by how the links should be aligned? The axle links are the same as before except one goes away and gets replaced with the new panhard link.
Great job Jim! Think I will try and reverse my front lower links as well. 👍👍.
Thanks for the tip on the lower links, it has helped a ton!
awesome!
Nice, I’ve seen these running on exocaged video, seems to perform pretty well
Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting some run time on mine.
Nice job on the installation of these axels
Hello hey i been having problems installing this axles on my redcat gen 7 pro any advice?
Awesome video very nice tutorial great job thumbs up 👍
wonderful the video

My servo is a Turnigy MG959v2. If you go back through my Gen7 playlist you'll find the video I did on it.
Honestly I'm using the China special ds3218, and am loving it so far.
Also I've heard that they WILL be out for general release before end of year.
Hey what type of steering servo do you have on your gen 7 because it doesn’t look like the stock one and I’ve been trying to find a better replacement
It's the Turnigy MG859 v2. ua-cam.com/video/DoCbOVu6DZU/v-deo.html

You can mount the bottom of that shock without removing

I haven't seen anybody break these yet. Everybody on the Gen7 forums seems to be having good luck with them. Who had the breakage?
Take a look at this guy he shows the gear at the end. ua-cam.com/video/I0yhCasYqU4/v-deo.html
There have been issues if it gets bound up.
Redcat is already working on a solution.
That's good
hmm after watching that I think I might just try and fit a set of trunigy portals from an axial scx10 I am thinking, whats your thoughts on this?
Did you ever do a 3rd video for this?
No. Most of my issues were addressed in the 2nd video so I didn't do a 3rd

You're adding spacers where the panhard rod mounts to the servo bracket? I'm not sure what kind of spacers you're talking about?
where did part 3 go?

Wheres the 3rd video ?
I ended up incorporating it into the end of this one. Most of my issues were self inflicted.

Good vid. Thanks for showing your mistakes so that we won't make them!
Not worth it
Why not?
