    Too all of those asking:
    Top speed: 105 mph (169 kph)
    Wheelies: You can power wheelie after you turn the limiter off via the Zero app for your phone.
    Range: Realistically about 150 miles (even though he mentioned it in the video, people seem to still be asking).
    Price: 16 grand for the SR 13.0 kWh (without government incentives).
    You're welcome.

    • @jakob3313
      @jakob3313 7 років тому +9

      Hope those things will develop from time to time when it belongs to the top speed, instant torque is cool and all, but 170 kph is what 300ccm 4 stroke or 125ccm 2 stroke bikes can reach easily.

    • @blqysmg
      @blqysmg 7 років тому +22

      Yep, you can go 170 kph on many bikes. If you drive your bike over 170 kph on the streets, you are bringing a lot of harm to the reputation of motorcycle riders, and are responsible for the feelings of non-bike riders that we're all asshats who drive recklessly and deserve whatever we get when we do crash.
      I'm all for having fun on a bike - but I have no need for a bike that "can go" over 200 kph (or however you feel is fast enough).

    • @CockatooDude
      @CockatooDude 7 років тому +3

      +Jakob Well if the Zero bikes don't satisfy your need for speed, then look into the Lightning LS-218, as that can go over 340 kph.

    • @dwc1964
      @dwc1964 7 років тому +4

      From my test ride, it felt really light - disconcertingly so for me as I'm used to a BMW tour cycle. Also the lack of rotating mass eliminates the gyroscopic stabilizing effect. Honestly I could stand for a heavier version - maybe 1.5x the battery size (& range?); would also like a full windscreen (electrically adjustable please!), would be more comfortable at 40+mph and also increase aerodynamic efficiency for better highway range.

    • @TeaxYT
      @TeaxYT 5 років тому

      hmm debatable, in some cases the lack of clutch and gears can make you less aware because you don't really need to pay attention to shifting.
      At least in cars anyway I think it's one of the main reasons why american texting and driving in teens is so high is because all the cars are automatic they don't have to do anything but accelerate and brake, with manual transmission you're forced to be more aware and engaged.

    Great Video! I'm sure hundreds of Folk have commented you talked thru the entire video and drowned the sound of the electric motor, but... This Electric Motorcycle could be a great sound dampening option to a Movie Crew shooting up close to their Star Actor/Actressess on location.
    Electric-Tech-Wise - I'm thinking that, because all Motorcycles Riders are way used to experiencing slight "engine drag" when they let off the throttle, this would be the perfect time to engage a "battery" charging device that may & should cause a sense of engine drag. I bet the precise accurate "timing" of this device working, during "throttle on throttle off" can be done with today's tech because we sure did it with fuel injection as an option to good ol' carburetors.

    8:15 passes a 35mph speed limit sign but he's going like 90 so he blurs his speedometer.

    I used to not care but after studying sciences for quite some time, torque is measured in lb-ft and N-m. Ft lb is technically a measure of work in a straight distance. Torque(moment) is likelihood to rotate.

      Joe Gray fastest electric bike anyway... the lightning wouldn't last long against an H2

    • @graydation
      @graydation 7 років тому +5

      +Jessa Phillips... Actually all the data says different. The H2 has a listed top speed of 206-240 mph that is not track proven yet... although it could be in the near future. The 0-60 times show the LS-218 beats the H2 with the H2 getting 2.35 seconds and the LS-218 getting under 2 seconds. The H2 quarter mile is listed at 9.62 while the LS-218 is listed in the low 9s. Even if the top speed for the H2 is verified at 240ish as listed... the LS-218 is still a faster bike off the line. And every bit of research and speculation about the future of the "fastest bikes" all point in the direction of electric bikes and the death of the eternal combustion engine. Personally I can't wait to buy an all electric bike... Although the LS-218 is not the type of bike I would prefer (I am not a "fastest bike" kind of guy) and I want there to be more selection as well as lower prices before I make the switch.

    for ppl wondering, an electric motor makes max torque at 1 rpm, and rpm is irrelavent, it cant be explained the same way as a combustion engine in the sense the relation between hp and torque is different, so even though my sv650 makes 40ft lb at 3k and 47 at 7k is only makes half the power at 3k. where as an electric motor makes the same hp through the whole rev range

And it costs close to nothing to drive.

    okay so if you take an electric mortor and turn it in the way it's made to turn the magnet and the coils interact and make electricity so the regenerative breaking means when you apply the brake the engine stops making torque and goes into generation mode so the power from the wheels and momentum slows you down and spends the engine up making you like electricity if it's a situation where you have to break really hard and not just a smooth study break then it uses regular brakes the same applies for cars they work in the same manner with regenerative braking

    In the Isle of Man TT electric bikes run comparable times to 250s - something like a 118mph average speed. That's damn impressive, but they're even better on the street because of their massive torque advantage.

      Roads are funded by the state govt, road quality varies state to state just like most things in the US. Keep in mind Trucking is one of the most popular jobs in the US and big trucks turn roads like that into powder.

    • @Hexthrill
      @Hexthrill 7 років тому +34

      Did you see how fast that thing accelerated?
      I'll try to explain it:
      Take the BMW S1000RR, per example, it can make 83 lbf·ft of torque, but it only delivers that much torque at 9,750 rpm. Now take this bike (it's called Zero SR), it can make 119 lbt-ft of torque (which is a lot more than the BMW), but it can deliver that much torque at any time, on demand, no need to reach a certain rpm.
      I used the S1000RR as an example because it is a really fast bike, so if the Zero SR beats it in acceleration, imagine how fast it is!
