Saw actually Maiden today in Frankfurt, I fully agree to you ! Maiden , First and Killers, by far the best. Paul Di Anno RULES ! Greatings from Germany, Jörg
The first Iron Maiden album is legendary and this song kicks it off. Paul Di'Anno was the best singer this band ever had. The aggression and intensity of the first two albums is second to none. I bought this album when it came out in 1980 and it's still a favourite. "Up the Irons"
God, you're SO right! Iron Maiden with Paul had a punk approach, a raunchy direction which Bruce Dickinson just can't follow. His operatic voice just doesn't "get" me. I love Paul's husky, screamy vocals.
I love the early Iron Maiden as I do the Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden. Paul has an awesome voice. Songs like Iron Maiden, Prowler, Phantom of the Opera etc are so good. And then songs like Number of the Beast, Hallowed be thy name, Run to the Hills, The Trooper, Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight. It's hard to argue that one was better than the other. They both had such great songs with the band
Amazing Paul Di'Anno. Para mi esta época de Maiden es super mágica. El resto me encanta pero los 2 primeros album's son espectaculares. Esta versión de Prowler está tocada medio tono más alto. Paul Di' Anno el mejor!!!
So vital it is scary....the emergence of Iron Maiden, with their mix of metal and punk attidudes, was a watershed moment in the history of rock. Very similar to Nirvana's mixing of metal and alternative attitudes in the early 90s. Dickinson made them world-class, but Di'Anno gave this band a great frontman. GREAT VIDEO...UP THE IRONS!
This is a fantastic video! It's to believe that Iron Maiden at one time, actually played clubs. Wow, they have come so far since then....up the irons!!!
i am 21 and just like all of you! i WISH i had seen them in this time!!! and their music makes me feel like i can fly... i have it on my ipod walking to university and it makes me feel like I can kick ass!! i wish i was born 1967 not 1987 :( all the good music came and went by the early 90s
Wot a performance, loud, youthful and energetic! I love the Di'Anno era of Maiden! Even tho Strat tried to pull them into a commercial vein later on, I love watching him rock out here, look at the start, he's loving it!
Oh my God. When I die, this will be Heaven. When I was 16, this music made me feel like the Incredible Hulk!! I could do anything and take on anyone. This music gave me strength.
This is an amazing video, I saw Dianno in show almost 1 year from now and he is still great. Nice post Ederdrim, this clip made me think about that video where Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine were playing with metallica lol
Bruce is a far better singer / frontman than Paul ever was ... but the feeling I get when I listen to the first album is unmatched by any newer Maiden. I remember the first time I ever heard Maiden ... I was totally blown away!! I still have that cassette tape recording from WNHU's Metal Night ... Phantom of the Opera was the song. The next day went to band practice & blew away my mates. That weekend bought the Drifter EP & then 2 weeks later bought the first album!
Walking through the city, looking oh so pretty!! Maiden, Maiden, Maiden!! Early eighties man. What I would give to have that time again!!! Where's the feckin time machine when you need it???
Di Anno-Maiden period...Punk Metal...Dickinson-Maiden...Epic Metal...What matters is the energy that both singers bring in the song...Up the Irons forever!!!
that was a powerful performance. I like how Di'anno is toweling off his head during the song. you know he was sweating out all the cider he'd drank before the show. \m/\m/
Anyone who doubts Paul was the best needs to listen to Strange World. Maiden still wont do it without him. I just saw them over the summer in Stockholm, first saw them with the Somewhere in time tour... felt like i was 18 again :D
Holy shit...some real passion and power from early Iron Maiden....and let's admit it Dennis Stratton had more passion and energy onstage than Adrian Smith...this was a unique lineup...!!!
@qyasser I saw this lineup at the Glasgow Apollo back then and had no doubts they would be huge. Also saw them with Dickinson, but no comparison. The combination of well structured, complex melodies and Dianno's voice on the first two albums will always prevail.
The song that kick started it all. Rest in Peace Paul. Thank you.
What an incredible sound they had at this time, dark, edgy, blurred lines between punk and metal and just unique
it launched a corporation
@@bluesmills I'm sure, there are probably more people working for them now than were at that gig.
@@Redline748 true true, Imagine if you told them that in a few years times Bruce would be piloting a 747 with all their tour gear.
@@bluesmills 😂
They were the creators and Kings of Punk Metal, what a truly amazing band they were.
RIP Paul Di'Anno
The first line up kicked ass brutally!! Paul was great! I adore Bruce's voice but the first two Maiden albums were pure metal, raw and straight...
Saw actually Maiden today in Frankfurt, I fully agree to you !
Maiden , First and Killers, by far the best.
Paul Di Anno RULES !
Greatings from Germany, Jörg
Waiting for the film about Di'ano. His interpretation and stage presence is unparalleled.
MAN I miss those days. REST in peace paul. You were maiden
In this Time from the Year 1980 i was 3 Years old
The first Iron Maiden album is legendary and this song kicks it off. Paul Di'Anno was the best singer this band ever had. The aggression and intensity of the first two albums is second to none. I bought this album when it came out in 1980 and it's still a favourite. "Up the Irons"
I AGREEE 1000% 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍*
Il migliore ❤
Bruce made amazing albums and songs with maiden , Fear of the Dark, Rime of the ancient mariner etc. But the first two albums are still my favourite.
Prowler !!!! Paul Di Anno 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Paul Di Anno , the Beast of Iron Maiden. Rock in Peace, Rock in Heaven.
Bruce will never have the power that Di anno emits when he sings prowler, phantom or purgatory.
Di'anno for ever
God, you're SO right! Iron Maiden with Paul had a punk approach, a raunchy direction which Bruce Dickinson just can't follow. His operatic voice just doesn't "get" me. I love Paul's husky, screamy vocals.
The awesome thing about early Maiden is how raw and rough it was. It really isn't there anymore.
True.theyre verrrrry polished..but after 50yrs id hope so lol. This is great and they still are.
Paul di Anno Number One!!!
Iran Maiden with Paul was something else. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
😢😢RIP Paul Di'anno
43 years
this is the purest heavy metal, I'm so proud to be fan!!
In my opinion their best song, best album!!
I don’t know, Killers is a strong competitor
It is in my top three but I will put Phantom of the Opera first and Killers second.
DENNIS STRATTON ON THE GUITAR......WOOW...THIS IS EARLY STUFF...!!
I don't think Dave and Steve have been this downright wild on stage since '81. Such a sight to behold. This should be in the Library of Congress.
Library of Congress?
@californiagrace6868 haha! I'm pretty sure I wrote that inebriated but I'm sticking with what I wrote 😂
I love the early Iron Maiden as I do the Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden. Paul has an awesome voice. Songs like Iron Maiden, Prowler, Phantom of the Opera etc are so good. me too, a lot of respect to Bruce dinkerson but this iron maiden stile at the time of poul diano is really cool.
Favorite Maiden song by far!
Di Anno and Clive foverer
i saw them in 1980, ...only 16....my ears were humming for days later...
This is a fantastic video! It's to believe that Iron Maiden at one time, actually played clubs. Wow, they have come so far since then....up the irons!!!
Awesome vocal harmonies from Dennis Stratton! I love the harmonies on the 1st album, which aren't there on any other album!
dennnis stratton did great on those background vocals ,....
Woooow i loved...so raw ...awesome.
i am 21 and just like all of you!
i WISH i had seen them in this time!!!
and their music makes me feel like i can fly... i have it on my ipod walking to university and it makes me feel like I can kick ass!!
i wish i was born 1967 not 1987 :( all the good music came and went by the early 90s
i agree with you guy, but Paul was first, so for me is the best :-)
My favorite song and era of Iron Maiden.
Paul Di'Anno!!
You know what that's so true, this is givin me goose bumps right now listening to it.
LOVE the opening riff!
this is a real IRON MAIDEN !!!!!
Straton !!!! I liked his style!
Di'anno's ages have a lot of good stuff!
So cool. The old stuff is so heavy and raw. Cool to see Paul and Clive.
i cant even explain how epic this is
Back ups were amazing in this era as well
very gritty and raw. love the wailing guitars.
Wot a performance, loud, youthful and energetic! I love the Di'Anno era of Maiden!
Even tho Strat tried to pull them into a commercial vein later on, I love watching him rock out here, look at the start, he's loving it!
Epitome of heavy metal , can’t believe Stratton walked away from this, Adrian is a monstrous upgrade
He didn't walk away, he was tossed and rightfully so. Adrian was the first choice, he's the better fit, and the solos immediately improved.
Adrian is a far better guitarist for sure but let's admit it, Dennis Stratton had more energy and passion onstage than Adrian!
What a powerful song ! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent song
The real maiden
This is awsome! raw live footage from the audience and the quality is pretty awsome!
Thank you Paul and Dave! Been there (a little bit after that gig, but on the later one).
The rawness of thi album is fuckin brilliant. Dianno was maidens greatest asset. Their first two albums were the best. In my opinion
Oh my God.
When I die, this will be Heaven.
When I was 16, this music made me feel like the Incredible Hulk!!
I could do anything and take on anyone.
This music gave me strength.
カッコいい‼️
I wish I'd been old enough to go to this gig
RIP to the GOAT Paul Di'Anno
And Clive Burr, the drummer (on Number of the Beast as well)
saw these 27 years ago in Leeds , brilliant fast powerful, exciting with a punk influence
31 años y sigue siendo genial
40 años

loved that raw power of the first album.
so much energy u could tell then they gonna be
something special.
best song of Di'Anno era
UP THE IRONS !!!
The camera zooming in and out at the end made me laugh XD
Dude this looks and sounds great for 1980!!!.........
Its a more punk influenced song which is what Dianno fits more into.
If You don't listen heavy metal, Iron Maiden's gonna get you, no matter how far.
This is an amazing video, I saw Dianno in show almost 1 year from now and he is still great. Nice post Ederdrim, this clip made me think about that video where Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine were playing with metallica lol
nothing in metal can be better than first and second MAIDEN albums!
Ederdrim: thank you so much for uploading all these videos from this 1980 gig. It's a revelation.
Great vid. Thanks for sharing and posting.
they were very young but very good!!!!!! paul is a great singer... pure heavy metal!
and they are both great singers, each with their own style :)
Clive rules ever. Greatness
One of the greatest debut albums ever!
I can only think on "Black Sabbath" or "Led Zeppelin I" as a match for this!
UP THE IRONS!
Bruce is a far better singer / frontman than Paul ever was ... but the feeling I get when I listen to the first album is unmatched by any newer Maiden. It's so funny to see these guys so young... =D
Excelente!
heaven...metal meets punk
Anyone who doubts Paul was the best needs to listen to Strange World. Maiden still wont do it without him.
I just saw them over the summer in Stockholm, first saw them with the Somewhere in time tour... felt like i was 18 again :D

Gran interpretacion de este tremendo tema. Y aunque son muy distintos va su reconocimiento al genial Paul diano
@Cosovak He's the guitarist on the right... played on the first maiden album...
