      I don't know, they used to paint camo on battle ships in WWI

    • @Lv-sl3rm
      @Lv-sl3rm 7 років тому +19

      Probably know this already but when you get vehicles that large camo isn't mean to hide the vehicle but rather to throw off the depth perception of the enemy forces, making it harder to hit the target.

      Patriarchal Shitlord Dazzle paint, it was called! And if you saw them on the horizon it really broke up the ship's outline!

    Hello Andy, installing those tracks was still a pain in the butt. I got them installed but I am thinking they should have just used the rubber band style tracks. I had to use a touch of super glue to get the track links to properly adhere to the curves of the wheels.

      Well, these things (p-1k & p-1,5k) were not really tanks. They were self propelled siege guns. If you compare them to railway guns, it's easy to see benefits over something that needs a rail network and days of setup to use.

      When a project is even too silly for a proven megalomaniac like Speer, that should tell you something. Germany lost the war due to shortage of steel and fuel without that silly thing, already.

    Andy, I believe the germans would of painted the turret red, why ? to incite fear and also it is such a huge vehicle it cant' hide anywhere, have you seen the youtube video where it drives behind a 2 story house and all you see is this huge tank sticking out. the rest of the tank could be camoflaged as it could hide to not give the enemy that hasnt seen one before any idea of the length of it.

    I bet such a machine would have been super-battered: something like that isn't likely to be able to go along a normal road, or pass under railway bridges. Although with those silly narrow tracks, one drop of rain and it would just sink under its own weight and enormous ground pressure.

    Hi, Andy, I just subscribed, so I'm catching up on some older videos.
    Do you happen to know what the approximate dimensions of this vehicle, if it had been made? And, if I were to have been made, it likely wouldn't look exactly like that, as the design would be modified along the way, as well as just the hand built nature of the beast?
    I want to make an R.C. 1/35 version of this, but I don't like how far forward the turret is. My "production" Ratte would look a little different than that.
    The only holdup to this plan is the realization that a 1/35 Ratte might be larger than my actual car. At any rate, well done, sir, and I'm going to do the math to find out dimensions. It could happen...
